What is Steemit Zombies?

Steemit Zombies is a project aiming to create a wider distribution of wealth at steemit based on quality content and community building, to retain steemit users and to make sure that no great post goes unseen. We believe that a greater distribution of wealth will lead to fewer valuable users feeling discouraged by the lack of engagement on their posts when they are already engaging with other users on the platform. If bringing posts back from the dead will help minnows with something to offer to grow, and can allow their hard work to be seen, we are all for it.

We also want to make sure this Initiative doesn’t lead to any more low-quality-spam on the platform and that we can pool our resources to benefit a large amount of people in a substantial way.

We welcome all users who feel they have put a lot into their work and haven’t receive proportional rewards, and all those who would like to help others grow.

The Deadpost Initiative

Steemit Zombies can be seen as an evolution of The Deadpost Initiative, as stated by @vincentnijman, a collaborator, in his recent post. The Deadpost Initiative also seeks to help undervalued posts receive reward and readership. So far, these are deadposts, not revived zombie posts. We are discussing whether or not to change this.

#steemitzombies tag

The tag is a way for us to organize zombies and for curators to find posts that users felt were undervalued the first time they posted. We will work out ideas to bring some users with more SP to the tag in order to help curate our posts so more minnows grow for their quality work.

Community chat

The Steemit Zombies community is beginning to take form. Join the discord if you want to be a part of it. The chat is not for spamming your post promos but for making friends and discussing how to move the project forward.

Potential Future Ideas

Zombie Post curation account with delegated SP

I’ve toyed with the idea of creating an account where we can pool SP in order to bring more attention to these posts. The only thing I’m concerned with is that I would like most of the SP delegation to come from users with over 1000 SP. If 30-50 people could delegate 200 SP each, we’d have an account with 6000-10000. This account could be used to upvote the best zombie posts and upvote the work of the biggest contributors to the project on as payment for their work. I’m waiting til we have more active members on the project and a promise of 500+ sp delegation before opening this account.

Curation Project

Once there are too many zombie posts and it becomes harder to get noticed with the tag, I’d like to put together a team of curators who will choose posts for a curation post every 3-4 days. The posts chosen will receive a larger upvote from the account and the best will be resteemed. I’m thinking something similar to @ocd but on a slightly less frequent basis and all zombie posts.

Contests

There was an idea for an art contest for the best zombie art based on a certain set of standards....@ameriespeaks and @guyfawkes4-20 already submitted some art but we thought it would be fun to get a wide variety of submissions and it could also help raise awareness about our project.

Petition for Steemit and Synereo Partnership/Integration

Synereo is a platform that could be considered a competitor to steemit. Rather than hosting your content, they allow you to share your work on other platforms and be paid in their token for the amount of “resteems” and votes it gets. I’m wondering if it can serve as a nice way for us to keep our deadposts alive and monetized if they added steemit as one of their integrated platforms. I am going to try to understand the platform a bit better and then write a proposal as to why both platforms and their users would benefit from such a partnership. If you know anything about this platform please let me know what you think.
