What's with the "claim reward?"steemCreated with Sketch.

I returned Saturday evening from my retreat at the Abbey, and checked my Steemit account. I saw that I had an unclaimed reward pending. Of course I hit the "claim reward" button, and got the reward credited to my account. But I wondered about it.

So... what happens if I don't claim the reward? Do I lose it? If I lose it, what happens to it? Does someone else get it? Does it get divided up among those who did claim rewards? How long do I have to claim a reward? And why do I need to claim a reward that I supposedly already earned?

Anybody out there have some answers?

In other news, so far today I've upvoted six posts by small minnows, five of which were using my wantwiserupvote tag. I saw one post using the tag whose author I didn't recognize, or who I do not remember reaching out to. I'm cautiously optimistic that word is slowly getting out about my little initiative.

As soon as I can sit down and do it, I hope to write a post about my time at the Abbey, with a few pictures. Stay tuned...

Steem on, everyone, and be sure to claim those rewards :)

Sneak said it stays in your account forever. Here is the post, you will have to read down in the comments. There is no time limit other than it doesn't gain interest. I thought maybe its to make it harder for bots but that's a guess coz I don't know anything about them.

Thanks, that helps. Doesn't give a really good reason, but at least now I know that the unclaimed rewards do not expire.

Yeah that does make sense with a way to prevent bots. Good to know it doesn't just magically disappear too!

No idea on this one, but I hope that you get your answers.
