There is a lot of uncertainty around cryptocurrencies in the present moment. Some may say it’s nothing, but there has to be an actual basis for all the uncertainty to emerge.
To start, we’ll go at it in a simple way. From there we’ll see how deep the road leads us.
What do we like about money?
We like the taste of money, the smell of money, and the sensation that money gives. And we all know the taste and smell of a fresh printed 100$ bill.
Do you know anyone to have that sensation regarding 1 Bitcoin? I don’t. So what do we need? We need to somehow get cryptocurrencies having an equally powerful sensation.
Ever since ancient times, different peoples took pride and enjoyment in having their own unique trademark treasures, such as pearls, diamonds, gems, salt, spices, silk, furs etc. In the end, we always get back to “people want to have sensation about the instruments through and with which they interact”. Different peoples feel like having their own identity and expression, and currency, which represents a way of interacting with others and the exterior, is one of them.
Cryptocurrencies create environments of exchange, but presently there is no efficient structure to those entities, and second: it’s good to create new environments of exchange but not if there is no structure to them and new currencies can emerge at any moment. It’s like 20 countries living in one.
If they had a structure of functionality behind, people would start getting a more powerful taste and sensation regarding cryptocurrencies, but now they feel like random elements without any stable structure beneath.
For example, we can take the Internet as a country. In order for cryptocurrencies to work, they need to work like healthily integrated parts in that country. But right now, all of them are either fighting or at best pretending to help each other. It is normal for people to not get a sense of stability within a country when it is going through a civil war of 20 different parts.
The mechanisms behind cryptocurrencies (the good ones), they do have an optimal and flawless math behind them. But, a stable system becomes huge not through the math, but through collecting dividends on the sensations it inspired. The math needs to be there. Otherwise in time the sensations just reveal themselves to be lies. A stable system requires both. Cryptocurrencies have access only to the latter.
We can say that they are an incredible expression of human creativity and brilliance, but what they didn’t do is that they didn’t put the energy of making the product functional for the present dynamics of the environment. They were amazing artists in the functionality of the system, but not in functionality of the people.
And we are in that age in which we know that great presentation and portrayal of the product is at least as important as the content and the product itself.
We switch our focus onto Steemit.
How does Steemit feel, and what sensation does it give?
The sensation and feel that it gives are those of the early stages of a rising community. A community provides numerous beneficial and powerful advantages, but in order for this to happen for Steemit, it needs to own those values and make them accessible to its members.
So where do we need to start?
In two places: make the members comfortable exchanging knowledge and information, which it kinda does, but second: its cryptocurrency.
What does that mean?
It means that its currency, which represents the value in which the members trust to interact and exchange different resources through, to also provide a virtual Agora-type environment which implements strong community values: trust, stability, support, safety, power of unity, cooperation, involvement, presence and care. These values have the intention of bringing similar or complementary visions in an environment in which they can participate, express their creativity and share their assets with ease and the comfort of safety.
Ok. How could that be implemented here?
It starts with creating and providing the members with a platform in which they can interact, exchange, trade and share assets, and the currency used would be Steems. This will provide Steems with a powerful taste and sensation, one which people can get behind.
From there how the members function, what they bring to the table, and what the dynamics of interaction focus on, will reveal what the appropriate advanced stages that the community needs to be are. Later stages will bring the community new challenges to overcome and peaks to conquer, such as the cruciality of the board of the community/Steemit to look closely upon the dynamics and interests of its members. In doing so it will engage the community in such a way that it brings similar interests and people finding it beneficial to work together, giving birth to far more powerful and stable enterprises.
When the community will be stable and it feels that it is powerful enough, it will start interacting AND engaging other communities of the same or different nature. It will find itself encountering new dynamics which it needs to master.
Some of them will be easy and approachable, some will be tricky, some will be like…let’s say building up and portraying the persona of Steemit. A city isn’t known by the power and stability which it has, but that which it symbolizes. And it starts with having the symbols in the first place.
What could the symbols of Steemit be? Well, CURRENCY obviously could be one of them.
And as we said earlier, a symbol needs to symbolize something. This symbol will be heard long before Steemit, as the community, has any substantial interaction with others.
We want Steemit to grow, we want Steemit to establish itself as a powerful entity among the other heavy hitters, we want Steemers to bring their collective brilliance together and create imposing joint enterprises.
An option to insure that happening would be to help each other in giving voice and birth to helpful, beneficial and efficient dynamics of growth and transformation for Steemit.
