Views counter vanished on Steemit!

You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone...

Writing blogs on a nearly daily basis, I've become accustomed to seeing how many views a particular article accrues over time. It gives me a good idea of what is catching the attention of readers and what is not compelling them to have a look.

Today, the view counter on Steemit vanished. I can still see my votes, but I can not tell how many people have had a look at an article I've posted. It's interesting how I've never thought about the number of views too much and have focused more on votes, but now that it's missing, the problem is really annoying me. I'm hoping it's just a temporary glitch and will be resolved.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Have you managed to find a workaround? Let me know in the comments!

i noticed this, too. it's very frustrating, actually. i use the view counter on this personal account and the account for a news outlet that i work for. it's very valuable. my last two posts on this account had incredible views and i'm so bummed the counter is gone. one was over 11,000 and the other over 9,000. it sucks because my upvotes are super low as these things are sharing well on other platforms and i am mostly connected with folks that are not on or are newer to steemit. so upvotes and value don't really communicate what i'm interested in. i was hoping it was a glitch but it's been a while now. grr.

I agree, @emmafiala - the view count is helpful in gauging the level of interest in articles, particularly when posting to different platforms. It is a frustrating problem that will hopefully be fixed soon.

my fingers are super crossed.

I noticed this the other day did it happen after that node re-sync we had or is that just a coincidence?? 🤔🤔

I'm not sure @blockchainyouth. I just noticed it early this morning, but I may have missed it the other day.

I actually noticed the other day but it came back. This time it disappeared and is yet to reappear. I actually like the counter so hopefully this is a temporary thing.

Noticed this too, my views are usually x20 my comments and I rely on it for my work so I hope this is just a temporary glitch ... :s

The counter was not acurated with all the many apps we have already intereacting with the Steem blockchain apart of steemit.com. Visits coming from eSteem, Busy, Steepshot, Dlive or whatever other app was not counted.
Better do not have something that is giving false information
in some way ;)

Why do we need counter if it is not the benchmark for reward and reputation. The algo only read votes for the rewards.

The counter is designed to piss us off, when you see that your post got 20,000 views but only 3 upvotes :-)

Erg I hate that lol

It's still a nice option that one could disregard, if preferred.

I wonder if its possible to embed a counter into the post itself? Probably not practical if its possible.

I noticed this too after a brief hiatus on Steemit. Not happy about it..
