These can be bad and have been blamed for mass dying out of fish, even in recent times and may even be responsible for sudden extinctions of the past.
Steemit is like the ocean, the plankton must survive and flourish in order for the platform to survive and flourish, however, we must also avoid a bloom, which would inflate steem and make it just as worthless as it would be in a plankton-less ocean.
