Do You Wonder What STEEMIT Can Do For YOU?

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

So as I spend time lurking and having fun in the chat, I notice that so many people are waiting to be helped out by Steemit. They don't understand why they don't have as many followers or upvotes as they feel they deserve... (insert sob story here).

I ask these people, do you go in for a job interview begging for the job? Or do you go in wondering how you can be useful to that employer?

I am nowhere close to being an influencer here on Steemit (except for my short list of followers), but I do have an opinion and hopefully this might help someone.

Have you every asked yourself what you can do for Steemit?

  1. Why should someone follow you? Do you upload great content? Or is it a bunch of Resteems and low quality posts that seem effortless? Like any good story you might tell your friends, entertain your followers with a glimpse into your world, your mind, or just your day. And please don't ask me to follow you unless you think your content is worth my time.

  2. Do you interact with and help others? Or you are constantly asking people to send you over some SBD (true story), or to help you when you haven't even created a rapport with them? Why not help someone else and see what that does for you?

  3. Do you leave thoughtful comments on the content your enjoyed? Or an even bigger questions: do you even browse Steemit looking for content you might enjoy? Supporting Steemians you like and actually enjoy would be the first step to using the platform in a way that will serve everyone, including yourself.

Ok, so let me guess, you think it "sucks" to work hard on a post and get no rewards. I agree, but guess what, that's life and Rome was not built in day. If you post regularly enough, with quality content and well written posts, the followers should come to you. I think everyone has something special that they can bring, no matter your skill, talent or education. Just CONNECT!

I hope you enjoyed this post and that it at least guides you in the right direction of asking yourself the right questions, as opposed to being bitter with life cause you feel you "deserve everything" for reason X, Y or Z.

And remember, no matter how crappy your life might be, someone surely has it worst!

Hey @yassine, great post. I think you've hit the nail on the head with this.

The crazy thing is that a lot of these people would have posted their stuff without any expectation of a reward before Steemit!

Thanks Elliot, you right! Funny how human nature is easily swayed, once money is involved.... SAD!

But memememe...I could not agree more with this post. highfive

Yes meeeeeeeemememememe high5 right back at ya!

You too, but mostly me....seems to be how to many people think.

And yeah and I feel bad for them they just really want to succeed and don't always have the tools.... but it's within! Hopefully they can accept the reading...

Hopefully people focus on self improvement, I am always a work in progress.

Ask not what Steemit can do for you ...

Oh wait that's not my quote ... damn.

I agree. Read, comment, be thoughtful, help others, at least occasionally pop into chat. Laugh with people when your name is shitfarts ... because it's not so important that you can't be human.

Good work!

Steem on!

Like anything in life, it you are unhappy with the outcome, looks inwards instead of outwards.

Thanks for the comment!

You're very welcome

I can't explain how truthful this post is. As a minnow all the advise and help on this is ingenious platform is truly appreciated. I was lucky enough to meet some amazing helpful steemians on my first week and @yassine you are one of them.

Thanks now that is what I call a great comment! :D

I likes. I vote. I promote.

:D

Nice post I'm new here and have been helped by so many people I can't even tell you about it but what I really like the best is the amazing articles I don't expect to get wealthy from steemit but I'm having fun I've had some positive feedback from my posts and there is a sense of community here unlike most other social media where you just bring in your own friends and talk amongst yourselves

Sounds good keep having fun!

True and well spoken words!!! I did a similar post from a different angle yesterday (my timezone UCT +2). Feel free to go check it out https://steemit.com/yunk/@therneau/cleaning-out-my-following-list-and-why. Good job, upvoted!!!

Thanks I'll try to check it out!

Cool, cheers and only a pleasure :):)

People should ask these questions every time they hit 'post' or approach anyone. Thank you @yassine for getting this out there.

Hopefully they ask themselves these questions whenever they are trying to reach a goal! Steemit or non-steemit.

Thoughts I very much agree with. I find some have the approach that Steemit is there to help them instead of they are here to help Steemit and in there is the difference of success.

Now fix my problems!! :)

Gets you to the wonder how they face life on a daily basis!

You make a lot of sense @yassine.

I'm not sure you can run a platform like Steemit and not have the sob story people. I have seen some people here that I truly believe needed help, and if I can help, I will. I have a soft spot for humans. It's even worse for animals.

My philosophy is that I might need help one day, but I'm going to make sure I've earned it through my contributions to Steemit. In theory, if I do that, then I shouldn't have to ask for help.

Right?

Anyway, I've come upon your post in my journey to making more meaningful comments inside topics that interest me. Thanks for the great post.
