One of the things I like most about Steemit is that it is a very complete and active social network, so when we think we already know everything, there are always new concepts or new methods to learn.
Knowing basic concepts about Steemit is something that you should worry about, especially if you are new to this platform. One of those questions that most people usually ask is, what is curation?
The cure consists of the payment we receive each time we make a vote, for example, if you vote a post that has already received a profit of $ 100 then 25% will be distributed among all the voters.
Therefore, we could say that a "curator" is the same as voters, every time you vote for a publication you are automatically performing what is called "curation".
A few days ago I wrote about another question that is often asked by the new members in Steemit and is how the profits are distributed in Steemit? is that when claiming they do not get 100% of the profits of the post.
When we write a post or comment, the profits they generate will be distributed as follows:
- 75% goes to the rewards fund, divided between authors and curators, that is to say, this is shared between you and the people who vote your posts, the more you vote the more you generate and the higher the voting power will one share among them all.
Of this, authors receive 65% and curators 25%.
Being a curator also generates income, however, we have to take into account several points:
From the post you voted, 25% goes to the curators and 65% to the authors of the post, which will be shared between Steem dollar and Steem Power.
The "curation rewards" is to reward those users who voted for the post from the beginning, that is, they bet on the success of the post from the beginning. Therefore, not everyone who has voted for the post since its inception will receive 25% because everything will depend on the time or time that has been voted.
Therefore, you have to consider before voting or cure the following 5 points:
If you vote between 0 and 2 minutes after the post has been published, your vote will not give you a curation reward, 100% will go to the author.
If you vote from 3 to 14 minutes, your Upvote will receive 10% of the 25% of the curation rewards, among all the voters, that gave you your voting capacity, while 90% will go to the creator of the post.
If you vote between 15 and 26 minutes you get 50% of the maximum healing rewards your Steem power gave you.
If you vote between 27 and 30 minutes, you receive 90% of the maximum that your Steem power gives you and 10% receive the author.
If you vote 30 minutes after the post has been published, your vote will receive 100% of the maximum curation reward, as long as the post has been successful.
One thing you have to keep in mind is that you should not abuse your votes because your voting power can drop dramatically and it can take days until it is restored, I recommend that you do not allow your voting power to fall less than 75% therefore, you must always keep in mind who you vote for and if you think that post will succeed or not.
Not everyone knows this, however, I think it is something very important that can help us grow on this platform, becoming good healers can be key to us.
Plain, simple and useful for this community that is constantly expanding!

I think you should write a recap of this because you have explained curation better than most and should get more than $2.00 reward for doing so

@yeisonrosello, "Curation" was not clear to me until this post. It's less "muddy"now but a lot clearer. Thank you!
I also thank @davemccoy of the @newbieresteemday for his post. (screen-shot and shown here).
That post got me into another rabbit hole and yet another, landing me on this article. Glad I found it!
My questions are for him, you, @goldendawne or anyone who has the answers re "Curation":
Is it accurate to say, "I am curating when I Upvote, Comment, Resteem."?
What is the "Promote" function? Is that Curation?
Any other ways to curate?
If I could resteem this, I would so I can refer to it again! Thank you for some clarity on the subject!
