I lost 454 followers $660 on Steemit today! Do not lose your password!steemCreated with Sketch.

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

Just happened today. I will write what happened later. I lost my 454 followers, my 56 rep and 70 days of hard work. And a bit of money. I have now just the posting key. I used it for steemconnect and for login I CTRL+V-d and somehow Firefox saved that one(I clicked on it maybe in a rush after inserting the posting key, to save in the password manager).

So whoever followed me on @coinkingz, please follow me here. What a ride will be to climb that high again. Ohhhh...

DO NOT LOOSE YOUR PASSWORD! WRITE IT DOWN

Ouch! Was that somthing to do with that steemian thing today? When u thought u got hacked? I need to make sure I have 100% got mine right as I have a few k SP!

I just panicked because my voting power went down and copied the posting key to the login, and f..ing Firefox offered to save and I clicked. This was a new password, 5 min old, and didn't save it elsewhere

Gutted for you mate! I know how hard it is to get established! 😁

Re-steemd!

Thanks :)

Maybe I should copy the posts here as well and let @cheetah know about it?

Is there a chance you could still edit this post and change "loose" to "lose" ?

I'm sorry this happened. The good thing about it is you have learned this system so well that it won't take 70 days the second time around to get to $660

I imagine the first 70 days is the hardest.

Your passwords are stored in two different files:

key3.db and logins.json

I would try one of these tools to see what shows up:

https://www.raymond.cc/blog/how-to-find-hidden-passwords-in-firefox/

Thanks, I will check it, but the problem is that the working password was overwritten by the posting key, so it makes it harder. But I succeed to start the recovery process with my first password, it may work.

You can try a system restore to a date prior to you changing the PW, it should reset it to the password on that date. Good luck

Thanks, the problem with this that I changed the password and it was max. within 5 minutes I rewrote that with the active key. So it is likely a 5 min gap where the good pw was stored

Oh no... I'm sure you will get back up again stronger :)

One comment here as well

Sorry about that dear, most important thing is that you didnt loose you

What brings u down today makes you stronger tomorrow

hi @zoltanbristol I'm sorry for what happened to you, unfortunately I can not help but with my vote and follow you if I had 660 dollars I would have given you for make you happy,
Continue to work if you made $ 660 a second and you can do it a second time

I can do it for sure, but this is the looser of the day award winner.

Very important warning.

Save it as a draft email. Send it to a trusted friend on facebook messenger, write it down, whatever you have to do. There's no reset for this one.

NOOOooo...! That sucks man! Your content is really good so I'm sure you will be able to make it back in time.

Thanks for the good words. I just need million upvotes on this one :)

You will get back mate!! if you keep on producing that quality of work! all will be fine! :)

Thanks for the support. I might have a chance to get it back. Waiting for an email or something...I could start the recovery process.

Uhhhhhh :(

oh no! I am off to write my password down, right now!

Please do. If you can not login, your money is gone basically.

Hey you may check out LastPass plugin.

Ohhh it's really sad why you not copied your password ??

I was doing it quickly and changing between windows tabs etc...

Sorry for what happened to you

It can happen to anyone, so maybe now some more people will put the password somewhere safe. I let firefox do it only. My bad.

Darn that sucks dude.. hope you get it back :)

working on it...

Sorry to hear this...

So sorry for your loss. Okay, at the risk of sounding stupid, which password or where do you find it. I see several. I know I read about it initially (in my Steemit beginning) but duh, was so excited about Steemit, I skipped right over that step of writing it down. So if anyone could be so kind, please tell me which password it is. Thanks.

Your login password. If you automatically login, your browser saved it.

This one is good for upvoting. Full power is 8 cents. So $660/0.08= 8250 upvotes from me

:'(

I can post and upvote but nothing else with it

ah well... that's a crappy one but now i'm following you here
