What to do when STEEM/SBD is on the low?

in steemit •  6 years ago

I know that it's sad to see STEEM and SBD rates drop to 2 usd. It's when you've 'tasted blood' that you will feel the pinch. When STEEM and SBD was at 6-8usd, everyone was glad, and it began to do a little somersault dive and a dip here and there that people are sadden when banjo gives the market rates.

Well, if you are a true believer in the potential of Steemit, you would probably know that you're in this for the long run. Whether it rises or dips today, you will stay faithful to the platform and your wallet. That being said, there are a few things that you can do when STEEM/SBD is at the current rates and maybe look at the positive side of things. We already have so much negativity outside, let's not make Steemit another factor to frown upon.

Things to do when STEEM/SBD is low

1. Keep Posting. This is one of the advice I would give to many people who asked me whether they should wait till STEEM/SBD rises. Many are definitely dishearten at the the lowered voting value comparing to what it was a few weeks back. But I would say, stay consistent in posting QUALITY posts. Reason is so you would not lose out on any payout IF a rise in SBD were to happen. Like that time when SBD shot up to 17 USD and a lot of people do not have any incoming payouts to convert to STEEM. So you would not miss outon the BIG waves.

2. Good Conversion from SBD to STEEM.To think about it, the rates converting from SBD to STEEM is still a profit. No matter the current value of STEEM and SBD in USD, as long as you get more STEEM when converting from SBD is still a win

3. Best Time to Invest. For those who have extra money and are thinking of investing into your insurance or fixed deposits in the bank, why not try investing into STEEM? If you have faith and have followed and read up on the Steem Blockchain, the visions of the creators @ned & @dan and realized the POTENTIAL of Steemit, you would know that this dip would not last. I believe STEEM/SBD will rise very soon.

4. Don't Panic & Hodl. Yea, pretty much just wait the winter out, I can't predict how long the rates are going to be at 2 USD, but I do know that it will rise because Steemit has got so much potential and so many plans yet to be executed.

As long we continue to Engage, Build and Support the Steemit ecosystem, we will see the glory days again one day and probably an even more glorious one. Till then, sit tight, grab a cuppa coffee and post!

I'm pretty much doing all those things @zord189 although I have cut back from posting 4 times a day to twice a day. I find it hard to keep posting when engagement is down.

many of the people who used to engage seem to have left for now. 😢

That's true and it's sad to see the engagement are getting scarce.... because of the dip. I hope more people will see the potential in Steemit and not lose out when the big wave comes.

Together we will win 😉MomentCam_20180316190649.gif

Why do u have all this cute cute GIFs oneeee

Thank you for posting this!
When the price goes down... more members seem to NOT be posting or commenting. It's as if the low price scares them away.

Me? Heck no! I post and post, comment more... get myself ready for the moment when the price picks up. I'm not going ANYWHERE

EXACTLY @goldendawne :D Let's just brave ourselves for this dip. :)

True indeed! when there's a demand the prices goes up. As long as ppl are still here, there is always a market

The price fluctuations aren't going to bother me. If I happen to "make enough" one day to extinguish my student loan obligations -- great!

If not, I'm still contributing to a gift economy which is far more effective and profitable in the long run, in my opinion. Platforms like this are changing the world -- for the better. It's exciting to be part of.

Exactly @miklkent! I like how you think! This is one platform that will stay!

Only selfish and greedy people are saddend by thid drop.Profit and loss are the 2 sides of same coin.let us all be patient and wait for the coin to flip to other side.Morever some points u mentioned in ur post worth practicising.I have not seen people celebrating on the same scale with SBD hike as they are distressed with drop.....height of hypocracy.let us all say together i have many other things to be stressed at

Let us stay together! I like that. :)

Yeh sure.

Thanks for the positivity @zord189!! I guess those that are here for the money, may be the same ones who may not be engaging so much anyway. So if they leave...well, no great loss. The die-hards who care, will stick around regardless of the price of STEEM.

Ur welcome :D That's true! Like you and I! We will stick around for the long haul. Steemit is just more than a money making platform.

You know it buddy!

Like you and I!

That's exactly what I was thinking!!

Steem and SBD price will go up in future since steemit is growing faster. When SMT launches, it will definitely impact SBD and steem price positively.

I have been here on steemit since November, 2017. Back then steem and SBD price was lower than what it is now. So, no more crying.. lol...

One thing I realize is that building relationship is the key to do better on steemit. I will keep posting.

Thank you @zord189 for sharing this! Followed you! :)

That's correct! Gotta keep engaging no matter wat. Can't wait for the hard fork. :D

I must honestly say I still know very little about the market and the up and down and investing and all those things, but I am here for the long haul and I do believe in Steemit - thank you for the info - lets ride this out and cheers to better days to come - resteeming

Me too @anneke total new to cryptocurrency But I have faith in Steemit long term as it is a fantastic platform to share at the same time earn extra income. And lately, I came to understand that if you invest into steem and power up, then it is a different ball game
So, I am thinking about it

Thank you for the support and resteem! Yes, let's brave this storm together. We'll see better days soon. :) I'm in this for the long haul too. Followed

I completely agree with you. Yes, the fact that the price of SBD is dropping every day is upsetting and even scary, but we need to understand that this is how crypto is. It is volatile and does not remain stable for long. We need to believe in the platform and support it because that's how it will grow. This is why I keep posting because I know good times will come soon. The price of SBD is just like life- good times are followed by bad ones and they too won't last for good.

That's so true. As long as there are people believing in Steemit, it's not going to fail. It's going to rise soon!

If anyone starts having doubts, look at the longer term members of Steemit. They were making pennies from posts and they never gave up. Now they make huge profits off their posts, even with the market down.

If you have the attitude of bailing out when the chips are down, what's going to happen on your next endeavor? It becomes a viscious cycle and you never win. Sooner or later you're going to have stick it out somewhere. Tell me a place better than Steemit. I'm all ears. :)

Exactly bro exactly! Can't say it better myself! And to think that you can start Steemit without investing a penny

Seeing that Steem dollar and Steem is very low as this is very heart breaking.

heyyyy I was gonna write about this lol

I'm pretty sure you'll write a much much better one than me and I can't wait to read it! :)

This is just the best advice you could give. Just keep at it and believe.

Yips! :)

Thank you so much for encouraging us to keep on posting and also advising us
to invest in steem. Your words are very powerful. @zord189.

Geeat tips @zord189 . The decrease in the value of Steem and Sbd has really been worrisome to me. But irrespective, I'll keep posting and stay loyal to the platform. Steemit has been a blessing to me.

Great post! I am still posting daily, although it is disheartening to see the low returns, I just remind myself that I've blogged and written online for years and YEARS for free... at least this has the potential to make something!

I'm also considering investing a bit more in steem while it's so low. Great post!

I thoroughly agree, you have a point there. Keep on submitting quality post no matter how bad Steem and SBD currently. I used up almost all my SBD and left only 1SBD in my wallet just in case I need to play around with thise bidbots. Don't get me wrong, I used it to buy more Steem and powered up my SP. Great article @zord189, thank you for sharing.

Ur welcome :D

Your post has cheered me up no end and so I shall keep on posting.

We must stand strong together @lizziesworld!

As a noobie to the site who is yet to post his #introduceyourself post this dip is not discouraging at all. I am still so excited by the basic platform and the potential which steemit and d.tube have to offer that this relatively low value does not bother me at all! I can't imagine what it'll be like when steem goes back up and I can enjoy it like you guys were at its peak a few weeks back!

That's a very good mindset you have! You will definitely go far! Thanks for dropping by @benjamin852

I’ve enjoyed my journey on steemit so far ... definitely in for the long haul

Hehe, will see more of you in events then! :D

You betcha 😃

Yup! I'm positively looking at the bright side of the picture and continue believing in the capabilities of Steemit

Steemit has SO MUCH capabilities and potential for the future of a decentralized social platform.

For those who have extra money and are thinking of investing into your insurance or fixed deposits in the bank, why not try investing into STEEM?

Couldn't agree more seriously. Great post.

Thank you! Hehe, have a little faith in Steemit!

Thanks for the encouragement to keep going!

Ur welcome! Let's keep running after STEEM

Yes indeed it's better to keep a playful heart and see Steemit more of as a blogging platform for expression and connection. if we get paid than everyone's happy, if not, we're still one bunch of happy steemians =))))

I like how you put it :D

Agreed. When SBD was about $7, it was tempting to want to sell for BTC and go after some other alt coins. But while SBD is pretty much one-to-one for steem, it's probably best to trade for steem and power up.

I'd say power up for long term for Steemit. You can help and support a lot more people. Anyways, STEEM will probably rise soon

Thanks for the advice!

Ur welcome :)

That's true.
Up and downs make sense tbh.
Keep posting and support steemit by hodl and powering up.
Upvote resteemed 🙏💖🌼🍃

Thanks for the super support! Yeaaa, crypto is like that, pretty volatile. Gotta keep posting

Yes :) super
Youre welcome

Agree! The only way for us is to Keep steeming! our writing will never stop for sure! I grown from 0 to now, it is certainly not wasted!

That's right! :D Hehe

Good time to invest actually, better than keeping the money in the bank. My business professors always say, "if you got money to spare, don't keep it in the bank"
and in economics we learn, demand and supply. When the demand of Steem is high, prices go up.
:D I'm still going to make everyone drool on my food post. LOL

yea! Was talking to a steemian today, and she said she was going to move her coins to steem :D

Shared to SteemNation ;) Hang in there, I was blogging on this platform when Steem prices were 0.08-0.15 Cents...

Ohhh those were the good ol days for investing!!!

Steem on and throw money in :P haha, now even lower, but the crypto overall are low. So didn't really profit much from buying Steem with other coins.

I've been holding on to my Steem and sbd even though it's been going down. It would have been a great opportunity for people to buy since it's so low.

Yeaps, Hodl and invest if you have the money. :)

I noticed we're getting payouts in STEEM as well and not just SBD and SP. Any idea on this?

Must have been mentioned on trending posts but haven't been reading any on there recently.

Ah yes, STEEM Blockchain is going through a correction period because it has a debt due to SBD pegged at 1usd for too long. To curb inflation, it is giving out STEEM too.
