Today, I'm celebrating my 25th birthday!

In addition to culminating my week's posts in one place in case you may have missed something you enjoy, I'm also celebrating major developments in my Steemit experience. This week saw fewer posts than I typically author, as that time was delegated to my second love, CURATION.

Without further narration, I'll let the week speak for itself. 🔥

los-intro

We are the Ladies of Steemit

After five successful curation articles, it was time for a proper introduction. This post details the Ladies of Steemit initiative at its inception, its mission, and its plan for the future. Highlights include:

  • The Ladies of Steemit Library, which highlights 23 authors over a five-week period

  • Celebrating more than 30 SBD in profit-sharing with featured authors

  • Announcing the Ladies of Steemit Curation Trail

  • Outlining our news-curation project: Women Are World News

  • Pledging support the existing female-focused communities: @steemsugars + @teamgirlpowa

  • Proposal for Individual + Community micro-delegations of 10SP or higher to increase the weight of our influence

February 2018 Headlines for Discussion

We're taking a look at how women in Afghanistan are celebrating Valentine's day, a rare coverage of daily life for those of us in terror-brainwashed USA. As well, we're considering the lack of female representation in the energy conservation industry and discussing informatively how to incorporate trans-persons into gender-specific industry recognition.

Check out the full roster of articles.

Some of you have asked, what about the guys?

laddies

We highlighted five male Steemians who are positively impacting the female Steemit community.

Learn about each of these fantastic men and their contribution to the Ladies of Steemit in the full post.

Many thanks to those who featured the Ladies of Steemit initiative in their posts this week!

It's time I came clean... I'm a tea fanatic!

@DTube has given me a space to experiment with vlogging and my first subject matter is something I'm passionate about traditional tea.

My first #TeaTuesday vlog showcases a personal favorite, Dan Cong Honey Orchid, also known as Phoenix Bird.

Learn about this traditional Chinese oolong tea in my vlog on DTube or read the full post I created in case you're not a video watcher!

If you're into herbal teas...

dreamweaver

An impromptu tea blending one evening became my new favorite custom recipe. Dreamweaver, is a floral, heavy tea that assists the Sandman in weighing you down for deep, restful sleep. Comprised of a collection of herbs, leaves, and flowers with varying properties, the primary effect of this brew is a smooth and seamless dream experience.

In this post, I detail the herbal impacts of each chosen element, illustrate the recipe for your home herbalism enjoyment, and share tips for healthier, more restful sleep.

The title says it all.

Friends... building a new life in an alternative house with an alternative (and 100% independent) income in a new city without any prior knowledge of the place is hard work. It's life work.

These are the times I'll look back on in ten, twenty, thirty years and thing, "I learned so much about life during that tough period, that it has made my days today that much richer."

Updates that don't include massive of construction headway are hard to publish. I worry I'm disappointing everyone who is following along. I am concerned what my friends and family must think, because I know so many have already said, "We'll see how it goes." "Hoping for the best for you." "Even if you don't finish, it's life experience."

Alhen and I are learning the art of giving ourselves and one another grace. With deadlines, goals, and expectations.

Last but certainly not least... I have a new position on the blockchain.

My favorite post this week: AN ODE TO (OVERPRICED-BUT-NOT) VINTAGE LEVI'S

By Tayler Worrell

Since I learned about @curie, their mission + practices, and was curie'd a couple times, I began dedicating research and attention to finding a place on their team. I believe in sourcing quality and talent not just from the top, but from every layer and reputation level on the Steemit blockchain.

Attending a live 1.5-hour Discord chat-workshop-Q&A hosted by the @promo-mentors group with top curie-curator @carlgnash was the final push.

I submitted Tayler's post to the #curation-links channel on the Curie Discord after rigorous checks against all curie guidelines. After two rejections, I was convinced the post wouldn't even be picked up.

@randomwanderings submitted the post and @taylerworrell was curated that very night! It's a powerful feeling knowing your due diligence paid off big-time for a newer Steemian.

The following day, Carl nominated me to become a Curie curator and now, the real work begins!

Being a curie-curator is no walk in the park, but it's now my justification for spending so much time scouring the blockchain for quality articles! I plan to work hard, read often, and only submit the best, most original content I can find. Curators are only allowed to continue to work with Curie so long as they keep a high approval rating of their submissions!

Please check out my first curation submission (featured above) and get to know what Curie is all about in the latest Curie Digest.

Thank you for another stupendous week on Steemit.

Next week, I look forward to sharing with you a new installment to the Steemit Beginner's Series highlighting bot voting and a reward pool breakdown, a very special Tea Tuesday vlog, the latest from the Ladies of Steemit, one - maybe two - audio releases from my Women Taking Leaps series, and a few surprises I have up my sleeve.

If you're a new follower, please introduce yourself in the comments so we can be properly acquainted. 🎈

Thank you, Engine. You're too good to me here. 😁

Too good? Want me to stop being me? Not sure I can do that 🤘

No don't ever do that 😜 lol

Happy Birthday, Amelia! Once again, a beautiful post. And, what an honor to be selected as a Curie curator! From what I've seen so far of your standard of excellence in your work; you're going to do a great job!

Many thanks @coachjj! Just goes to show that if you dream it, you can do it! 💓

Amen! So, I followed your links to find out more about Curie. I had read info about it in my first days here, was a little confused, so I kinda forgot about it.

I love following trails that show up in my life motree than once. So, just now, I followed @curie and joined the discord channel. I've read the pinned posts and have a vague understanding of how it works. I'm intrigued.

In layman's terms, what's the best way to proceed if I'd like to try curating?

Gosh, I am certainly no authority on Curie myself, but here's how I went about it:

  • Curated my favorite articles into a lil thang called Ladies of Steemit and made sure to differentiate myself on the basis of quality, author-focus, and design elements.
  • Even before that, I'd save links to articles that helped me learn about Steemit for curation and paraphrasing (with credit) into my Steemit Beginner's Series.

When it came to getting involved with curie:

  • I genuinely befriended a couple curators, both of which before I knew they were with curie, but then gently picked their brains once I found out they were involved.
  • Joined the Curie discord channel and read all the pinned messages and started participating.
  • Tuned into curie-related mentoring Q&A on Discord, one of which with top curator @carlgnash who is super generous with his knowledge and experience.
  • Began submitting articles to the curation-links channel on the Curie discord for consideration. If your posts are solid, other curators will submit on your behalf and now you're on their radar.

Maybe I should write a post on this. 😂

Yes! This was outlined beautifully and easily. I bet others would find value in what you're learned on this topic and how you went about it. Can I DM you with a question? A little "gently picking" of your brain?

Of course, please do!

Wow, cool that you are on the curie team xx

Thank you! I am going to DM you in t-minus 5 seconds about some Ladies of Steemit ish that I would love your input on. 🤓

WOW! So much to celebrate!

  1. Congratulations on your quarter of a century special birthday!
  2. I was there when you asked everything there is to know about curating to @carlgnash and although I was so distracted by his singing and therefore have NO idea what he actually answered to you I am super happy I was present at the birth of a NEW @curie curator!

I know you will do great since you have proven to be a hard worker, so the team has found an amazing addition <3

Now please go celebrate your birthday instead of again working hard on Steemit?

Enjoy!

Happy birthday, Amelia!

I’m glad I’ve discovered your blog (thanks to @saffisara’s resteem). I’m into frugal living / voluntary simplicity myself and I will be following your blog from now on for knowledge and inspiration.

Aw man this initiative it awesome, thank you so much for keeping it up! <3

Welcome aboard Amelia! After the other day I was actually going to suggest you join us. Glad that Carl already got you in. He was/is my mentor too. I have been following your posts for weeks now and was nearly the reason for some of your Curie votes, but got beat out. It was easy to see along the way that you will make a great Curie Curator.

Carl is a very busy man, and if you ever need help with something and he isn't around just let me know what you need.

Wow, thank you so much! I had no idea you were quietly following and sending the curie presence my way! I sincerely appreciate it. I just might take you up on that, so be careful, I ask lots of questions! ☺️

I have kept Carl busy over my first month+ with tons of questions. Only fair I field a few for him. Sometimes it is better to be stealthy (not stalkery) in watching to kind of "protect your sources" so to speak, as there are many curators out there lurking. lol... But your Women Taking Leaps post I was just a couple minutes late on getting that one submitted. The way I look at instances like that is, "Well, I was right, she (the current author) is really good and at least it got the vote and attention." I am then able to use that submission spot on another post that might have gone unnoticed by everyone but me.

As for Tayler's post. I actually didn't see your discussion in the #curator_links room until AFTER I submitted it. However, I had seen her post and was also on the fence about submitting it. For me it had to do with my own situation of having just 3 submissions for the week and needing to be 100% accepted. You were still the deciding factor though. Having been following you and seeing the posts you write and others you support - I saw you resteem Tayler's post and said, "OK, so, I probably was right about it and should submit the jeans post."

And Happy Birthday! (forgot to say that in the previous comment)

happy birthday @ameliabartlett x
