What Is It?
Every user has a reputation score which is next to the username. As a new user to Steemit, you start with a score of 25. The maximum reputation score you can attain is 100. That is very much similar to a rank or level you find on a game or forum posting sites.
You have an idea how to level up right? Well, on Steemit your reputation will go up when users with higher reputation vote on your posts or content. You should carefully follow the basic rules in making a post to avoid getting a downvote or what we call getting flagged. If a user with a higher reputation downvoted your content, your reputation will go down and as a result will make your posts less visible. No need to panic though, as this system is intended as a means of control rather than a punitive one. It is designed to help control abuse of the platform. On the other hand, the users with reputation lower than yours could not hurt or affect your reputation. So, keep in mind... be responsible enough in creating your content as well as upvoting the content of other users.
