What are YOU Grateful for TODAY? - #GratitudeTrain No. 41

in steemitbloggers •  7 years ago

Isn't it just funny how when you need them most your domestic cleaners don't come to work! lol We have a lovely lady by the name of Sarah who cleans our house Monday's, Wednesdays and Fridays. Monday being the most important day really, because after a full weekend of Jude and his buddies mucking about in the house, the laundry piling up and just general chaos - there is probably the MOST to be done... and today - typically... I actually have two very good friends coming down from McGregor for dinner (namely @fionasfavourites and her hubbie Tom) - so now, after having taken a day of rest in terms of writing yesterday thinking I could play catch up today... instead I have to try and do that AND play housekeeper lol!!!

Sarah was unable to come to work this morning as there is a taxi strike happening today so there are no taxis available for her to get here. This really made me stop and think about just how blessed I am... not only to have her here three times a week to clean up after us, but also the fact that we have cars and do not have to rely on things such as public transport. Yes, we will pay her for today... but many employers wouldn't so many would lose out on a days pay which is terrible.

Sometimes it is the smallest things which we seldom take note of that actually warrant a large dose of gratitude.

Welcome to the #GratitudeTrain No. 40

Today I am grateful that we are blessed enough to have the privilege of someone who cleans up after us as well as the fact that we have our own vehicles to get around in.*

What is the purpose of The Gratitude Train?

......

I am of the firm belief that the habit of practicing gratitude on a daily basis is the key to shifting our lives in a positive direction. This is not only the expression of gratitude for the positive things in our lives, but also for the challenges which we are often faced with.

But sometimes, we can get wrapped up in our day to day existence and agenda, and it is not that we aren’t grateful, but rather that we simply forget to actually verbalise it or take the time to offer it a moment of dedication even in thought.

It is also true that surrounding yourself with the positive attitudes and mind-set of others, that it has a ripple effect on yours too…

So for ALL of us, including myself, I have decided to start this #gratitudetrain. We all spend a good portion of our lives here browsing through our Steemit feeds, so why not build a positive habit in the process. I think it will be great to share something every day that we are grateful for in our lives, no matter how big or small it may be.

Whether it is a new career path, a new hobby, an achievement of your child, a new relationship, a challenge overcome or simply a new pair of shoes… it doesn’t matter! There is without question… ALWAYS something we can take a moment to be grateful for!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

......

Step 1.
So starting today, in the comments section of #gratitudetrain post No. 1 – write something that you are grateful for in your life and start it with the number… as in if this is the first time you are sharing on the #gratitudetrain, then write the number “1.” And then state what you are grateful for.

Step 2.
Keep a record of your #gratitudetrain expressions shared in the comments somewhere in a word doc or such.

Step 3.
When you reach 30 – then publish a post on your own profile and be sure to use the #gratitudetrain tag or to tag me @jaynie in the post.

As simple as that!

The idea of this being, that not only will you develop a healthy and positive habit but at the end of 30 days when you share your own post, you will be able to reflect back and realise, just how MUCH GOODNESS there is in your life!

Until next time...

#3 I am grateful for a new found peace that has come into my life. I started meditation again and it has really made a difference. A bit of internal quite seems like such a small thing until you realize that it is exactly what you've needed for months :-)

Love it! I'm grateful for your gratitude!

hehe thanks @papa-pepper - I suppose I am too lol... because otherwise I would be walking around cleaning with a fat bottom lip... and a smile is a lot easier to wear :)

Haha:)

being grateful is so great @jaynie

I am grateful for having you as friend. This is the beginning of my gratitude journey, I am in.

I know what u mean. We've got a helper that's comes once a week to clean up. As we're working on the weekdays, only on Sat or Sun she comes by.

Amy knows her way around the house that I never needed to fuss over her unless there's something specific I wanted her to do. She's been with us for almost 5 years. I do increase her pay occasionally. She was the best help when we moved from a house to a condo.

To show our gratitude,we have many of our things that we couldn't carry along to us. And mind you, alot of good household items, clothes, bags to name a few.

Nowadays we just leave her to do the chores & we'll be out of her way. Gratitude also comes with trust, that's what I feel.

I am thankful for Jaynie, on Steemit.com!

Me too! It takes a ton of time and dedication to do what she does, and what she adds to this platform is tremendous.

#23 I am grateful for my faith and that it is strong enough to overcome challenges with a sense of hope for the good things that are yet to come :)

That was very thought of you to still pay her for the day. It’s great that when we recognize our blessings it helps us to bless others in exchange.

Today I am thankful for the free coffee at work 😁

ri8 @jaynie

'Mam!~ You look happy today'.

:D Haha

I am grateful for for falling, because without it I would never learn to pick myself up. I have falling a lot in my life lately, but I have been learning to pick myself up slowly and as long as I get up I can make it even better than it was before...

Years ago, I used to clean houses and there's nothing like a freshly tidied and vacuumed home. Not that I've ever done the same on my own place... 😂

#41 – Today, I am grateful for the fact that I get to stay home in my air conditioned house while hubby goes to work in the heat (currently 88F/31C but the "real feel" is 93F/34C). I am also grateful for his incredible work ethic, although on days like today, when I ask him to call in sick (or in this case, call in HOT), it's actually a bit annoying... LOL!

I am grateful for life.

I, too, am grateful for Coreen who looks after our house and is an essential part of the Destination McGregor team. And our friendship!

When I lived in Singapore and Hong Kong everyone had domestic help, most were live in. My mom hired a beautiful lady to help in our home, she lived in. She was a brilliant woman who gave me much cultural insight about living in the Philippines. She was kind and loving too. I remember my mom used to clean the house with her. They made a great team and I also think she was a great friend for my mom who didn't really hang out with the other expat moms.

I really like you gratitude attitude in this post. Much love to you :-) xx x

Love the positivity. It’s hard sometimes to look at the glass half full. Great quality that I wish more of us, including myself...possessed.
