@craig-grant and @thecryptofiend has come up with a really wicked idea of creating special main delegated account in order to delegate special minnow curators. I think that this is an amazing concept.

I have been thinking about something similar after success of my recent fundraising post for Dashee. Ned and Dan could create main delegated account to create "Steemit Community Charity Initiative" curtors.
It would delegate minnow charity curators who could upvote (after verifying legitimacy) all sorts of charity and fundraising posts.
There are plenty of people in need. Disabled, homeless, sick, poor. They all need our help and support.
This would be very rewarding for all Steemit community, and I don't mean just SBD/SP rewards.
I mean social reward - ability to help and share with others.

It would also be a really great promotion for Steemit. No other social platform has ever done anything like it.
I remember that @dantheman and @ned talked about using Steemit for charity in one of the interviews.
It would bring the charity to the whole new level.

Just a few points. It' s not my idea it was @craig-grant's idea. Also there is a problem with using the main @steemit account due to early promises made. The source would have to come from other accounts.

Edited and added @craig-grant in the content. Thanks for letting me know :-)

Thanks. No problem.

I think more charitable endeavours are a great idea for Steemit. Not only do we help people (which is the most important bit) and make the world better but it is also good will and PR for Steemit.

Some other social sites have done a lot for charity. It was a big thing on Tsu and I believe Bitlanders does it too. I really hope charity will be big on Steemit. People just need confidence that their donations will go to the actual cause. We need verification for this.

Steemit will bring it to the whole new level :-)

I really hope so. With the money people are making here they can afford to be generous.

Yes, and it does not hurt or cost anyone to upvote

I'd expect that people would donate from their wallet too so they can give more than a vote would, but voting is essentially free.

Yes, that would make it even more effective!

Great idea, upvoted!

Cheers future24

I like that idea! Then their could be people dedicated to helping with the charity related posts!

Yes, like help with the verification :-)

Excellent idea! What if we could crowfund it? We could create an account, and grow it to a whale by donations and investments and upvotes. Investments would mean that you get a share of the income gained. Curators could rotate, and get rewarded for their work.
We could vote for charity projects to support.

That is an option too :-)
(btw thanks again for your donation :-) )

I hope you will investigate this option. I would like to participate if you get something going, especially by curating.
Good luck anyway!

It is up to Dan and Ned to materialise it, not me. I just give an idea ;-)
