The Perks of Being A Good Landlady With Good Boarders

I have been operating a boarding house for the students of UP in the Visayas. We were lucky that they constructed and and operated here in my hometown of Miagao. Besides having a heritage church, we now have 2 Universities and a couple of banks. We are improving and going up. I heard that a large and well known pharmacy will be openning here soon.

When the UPV opened there was a shortage of places the students can stay because the dorms were full. So I accepted a few in my house because I had 2 empty rooms. Later we put up a small boarding house, 2 floors and 2 rooms per floor. That was around 1997-1998. So now I have a registered boarding house earning a little extra.

I have had my share of good and bad boarders but thankfully mostly good. I even at one time had 24 boarders including in the main house. It was fun too because that batch were good.

When things were not expensive we had parties, orientation and Christmas parties.

Later we did not have anymore. Things were getting expensive.

I am like their 2nd mother. I would recieve a few gifts from my boarders. Now I only have 2 regular boarders. One has been my boarder since she was studying till masteral and now works so more or less 10 years now and she stays in the main house.

Whenever she has an out of town research she always brings me a little something and also for my helpers.

Just now because she is going home for Christmas she gave me a little something.

At first I thought the were mini lolipops but they were not. They were pastillas because she knows I have a sweet tooth.

See milk pastillas with a touch of chocolate. Not too sweet either. It looked cute and unique. Pastillas are a sweet sugary milk based dessert you can make without cooking. Mix condensed milk and powdered milk, add a little butter or margarine. Then shape into balls or stick then roll in sugar. Wrap and give out. Will talk more about that in cooking.

I kept them in the ref so no ants will get to it. I love the words on the plastic container. If you look closely it says * MY TUB OF HAPPINESS*, which is true and reusable so I can fill it with other things that gives me happiness.

Before my other boarder left, she also gave me a gift.

She wrote a sweet message. She us one boarder who is respectful and follows rules.

Now that is a good cup and the words are very applicable because when I write for #steemit I always revise haha.

Over the years I have collected a lot of gifts. Just wanted to share, at least I won't be zero in gifts. I put the cup back under the tree. Lol
