Lambunao is a town located in Iloilo City.It is considered as "The land of waterfalls " because it has 23 documented waterfalls spread in different barangays. It is the best place to cool off in summer, and a great place to bond with your family and friends.

Most of these magnificent cascading bodies of water are located in the mountainous barangays with some taking half-a -day's trekking. The waterfalls are Mahangin, Gi-ub, Igbulawan, Tabulwang, Takbangan, Baragsakan Inas, Maasin, Mahagnop, Malinaw, Malumot, Naipit, Olaw, Tabogon, Nalisong, Nasor-ohon, Balagnan, Dalhayan, Daragsa-an and Tayokan. They are not only waterfalls but they are in a virgin forest which are homes for rare fauna and flora. Some cannot be explored because the local government are preserving them.

It's quite an adventure on your way to the falls. You need to go there by foot for there's no road that could access up to there.Your journey consists of passing by the vast rice fields, crossing the clear river, climbing up the hill, going down by the rice fields again or sometimes doing the shortcut by following the course of the water.

Before reaching the waterfall you'd chose to go to, your legs might hurt but your eyes are more than satisfied to witness how wonderful God's creation is.Along the way, it is always the laughter and joyful conversation we could hear, but our elders would warn us thatwhen you are entering the forest, making any noise is forbidden, for it might disturb the animals or spirits living in that place. We need to respect them as we are a guest in their place and we consider ourselves as passers-by only.

This is the picture of Maasin Falls. It is located in Sagcup, Lambunao Iloilo.I have been here many times already since this just 2 barangays away from my place. There are some residents living near that waterfall who are selling coconut, mango or any kinds of fruits so we buy from them along the way and serves as our snacks. There's spring water too, if you want to drink, anyway, it's for free.
You'd know that you are approaching your destination if you could hear the splashing of water and the place is getting cold around because it is surrounded by trees. The moment you soak yourself in water, you could absolutely feel the chill.By the way, the name "Maasin" means "salty " in English. Thus, Maasin Falls' water is salty though it is in the flowing river. It's the wonder of nature!
