*It is not about who wins the game, it's how you played the game."
Whenever there will be a competition to be held in our school and I was given a chance to coach the pupils, these lines are what I would always tell them even before we train and have our daily preparation for any game.
I would always make them understand that we can not win all the time. There will be times that we would be merry and be victorious but there will also be times when we will not. What's most important is that they did their best and they enjoyed their experiences during the battle.
Today is another battle for them. It's a battle on whom will bring the name of LEYTE to the Regional Level Competition.
My Team, My Pride..
I was glad that my team has qualified for the Division Level Metrobank Math Challenge. However, the announcement was made just last week so we were not able to prepare much for it especially that I was also tasked to do other things for the school. So, I can only rely on my pupils to focus and be ready for this competition.
Being a Division qualifier is already a big honor for my school and me as their coach. How much more if they could make it this time around?
It is good to watch the pupils answering their test. You can see that they are all so excited and eager to bring honor to the respective schools.
On the other hand, this is what the coaches would look like while waiting for the exam to finish.
Teachers can really be funny at times..
There are some who are much more nervous than their contestants. There are some carrying big bags with food and drinks for their team. There are some who are silently praying and some who are busily talking with one another and busy playing with their phones just to kill time. Some are even sleeping on their seats...
Yes, waiting for the test to finish is the most boring part. Yet, teachers are patiently waiting, each with high hopes of bringing the good news back to their own town.
As a coach, I am much more worried about how my pupils would feel after the result would come out. I am worried that they would feel so disappointed against themselves and even frustrated. That is why I am here with them from the start until the end. I wanted to make sure that they were all okay and they did just fine.
So, whatever the result will be, I am hoping that they will still be happy with it, win or lose.
P.s. Whenever we are in the midst of a battle, a game or any competition, we should always take all consequences into consideration. We should always learn how to accept reality. It is not about winning all the time. It is also about learning from your mistakes and making it a guide, an inspiration and a motivation for you to do better in the future.
We should always remember that opportunity oftentimes is disguised in the form of misfortune or temporary defeat. You may not win today but I'm sure that you will win in God's perfect time.
