Many people do not like zoos because they say the animals are unhappy being kept in cages, but if the animals are looked after and they have never been in the wild, zoos are giving them a chance to continue breeding their species and to educate people to know more about the animals and care for nature.

Many animals will go extinct if they are not protected and never seen by any humans.

Do you love animals and would like to care for them and make sure they breed and gets the care they need?  Then becoming a zoologist might just be the right job for you.

Zoologists study the behavior, physiology, classification and distribution of animals, whether they are living or extinct. 

Besides from caring a lot about animals, you also need to have a lot of patience.  You may have situations where you must observe how animals act in their natural habitat and that can take a long time, so you need to be very patient and not interfere with the way things happen.

Zoologist will also write some articles on different animals or on how they need to be cared for.  You need a have a lot of knowledge on different species.

There are a lot of places where you will be able to work.  It can be in a zoo or even on a private owned reserve or doing work for the government or in a museum or at a university.  Some zoologist spend a lot of time in nature while others spend time in buildings and teaching others about certain species.

As part of their job, zoologists may find themselves organizing studies of animals in their natural habitat, studying specimens under microscope, fundraising, writing reports and scientific articles, making presentations to schools and interest groups, identifying and classifying animals, estimating wildlife populations and much more.
