We go through life every day with numerous things happening to us. It can make us feel different things. Sometimes happy, sometimes sad. Having feelings is normal, we just need to learn to deal with it and control it in such a way that we do not get depressed.
Being a teenager makes it a bit more difficult to be in control of your feelings. Here are some ways how you can make sense of it.

If you have certain feelings about something it is good to talk to somebody. If you feel you are too angry or sad to talk to anybody, it is fine to keep to yourself for a while until you feel better. A problem shared with somebody you trust will always make you feel better.
Some days we are not aware of our feelings because we feel content and 'normal'. It may happen that your emotions may go on a 'roller coaster ride' and go very low where you feel very sad or you can be very excited and happy. Be aware of your emotions and what triggers certain feeling. If you feel down, do not be too hard on yourself. Give yourself time to feel and eventually you will be able to deal with your feelings.
There are a variety of things that you can do if you are feeling sad and exercise is always a good idea. If you feel frustrated or angry, it is a good way to get rid of all that bottled up energy.
You can be your worst enemy. Without you thinking about it, you are constantly having thoughts going through your head. Even sometimes, without realizing it we can have negative thoughts coming into our head and then we dwell on it.
The more you listen to your negative 'inner voice', the more you will feel down and depressed. It is very important to fill your mind with positive thoughts about yourself and your situation. The more you give way to negative thoughts, the more you are going to come down on yourself and mostly these negative thoughts are not even true, but because you keep on thinking about it, you will start believing it. Fill your mind with positive thoughts and your day will quickly get better.
It can happen that you will experience strong feeling because you heard somebody say something about you. You know it is not true, but now you keep on thinking about it. Do not let your emotions be determined by what other people say. You cannot control their behavior and you cannot convince them to think differently. Stick to what you know is true and live up to that. Be true to yourself, not to the ideas of what you think people have of you.
You can get rid of strong feelings and feel better by doing something creative. Dance or sing or listen to music. You can even write down your feelings in a journal. For that moment when you are expressing yourself through your creativity, get lost in the moment and forget about the negative stuff that makes you feel bad.
If you are not kind to yourself, nobody else is going to be. Do not find fault with yourself the whole time or imagine what people say and think about you. Be confident in who you are and love the person you are. Treat yourself in the same way that you care for others. You also deserve to be cared for.
How would you react if your friend hurt her/himself. You will not just stand around and do nothing. You would try and help them. So why are you hurting yourself with negative thoughts and being mean to yourself if you experience 'low' feelings?
