Otters at the forest.

Today Luan is spending his whole day in the forest, this holiday has kept him away from his friends and he just wants to be in the forest.

He never realised how wonderful it is to live next to a forest until he went on holiday. He told his mother after helping her that he is going hunting for more animals as there must be ones he has not seen yet. 

He has heard a funny noise outside every night, and was wondering what it could be. He was thinking today he will find out, as the dog’s food is always finished and the bowl is not where it should be. 

He told this to his mother at breakfast, and said he will figure this out today.

She gave him breakfast and his basket and off he went. 

He was thinking it could not be the monkeys as they were too far away from the house and they had lots of food. What else could be eating the dog’s food at night? If he was not successful in figuring it out today he will leave his camera there tonight and see what was happening. 

When he got to the spot he always stayed at he sat and waited for the animals to come and drink water. He decided to keep a diary of all the animals he could see and find out more about them from the library. First the deer came, they knew him well by now and did not even flinch when he got up and went nearer to take a nice picture to paste in his diary.

He had decided to paste a picture in his book and leave open spaces for him to fill in the facts about the animal. 

Then for the first time he saw some otters. He had never seen them before and was impressed with them as they looked sleek and clean.  He had heard that there were otters, but because of the rain they might have also moved nearer to get more water.

They were so beautiful and he took pictures to show his parent’s. He saw his monkeys as well as the rabbits but today was the first time he saw the otters. He decided to go home, and ask his mother to help him find out more about them. 

She said let us go and see that nice lady at the library. They decided to buy her a nice piece of cake along the way and they went to the library. 

She was so pleased to see them, as she liked Luan very much and the fact that he really wanted to know about different animals. She said let us see what we can find on the computer and that might help us to be able to make your book very nice as I can even print some of the picture for you.

 Otters are very friendly playful animals, there is even a video here of people playing with them and entertaining them in their swimming pool.

I will make you a copy and when you get your first computer you can watch it again. O thank you so much, I think they are pinching my dog’s food from his bowl. I hear them every night and kept wondering what it was, but now I am sure.

It is funny that we live next to the forest, and this is the first time that I see them there, mother says it must be the good rain as they are swimmers and enjoy playing in the water. They thanked the lady and left for home. Luan’s mother said, the idea you have of keeping this diary or book on the animals will also show the new baby one day what you were doing before it came. They went home and started working on the book.

Luan put his two pictures in and the video that the lady at the library had given him. By then it was time to start making dinner and Luan put everything away where they should be and helped his mother. 

By the time his father came home all was ready as he was always starving when he got home.

They all had dinner and Luan told him about their day and the otters. 

His father agreed with him, because every morning when he goes to work the bowl is empty and not where it should be. He was sure the otters were eating the dog food.
