I am alsmot sure that a lot of people are resteeming hot and trending posts just because they see the earning of that post without understanding what is written there. When you ask such people to resteem to be resteemed in this group : Steemit for Resteem ↕ , they begin to ask questions : why do I have to do it ? will you guarantee that I will be resteemed ? while the group has more than 19000 members and it's even good to be approved there.
It's really funny that a lot of people don't understand the power of resteem and what it is exactly. I challenge them to write a good post and make it resteemed by a lot of people without asking them about that. You can check here : Who resteemed your post?. If you see that people are resteeming your post, that means you wrote something really valuable.
I don't mind if you resteem a hot or trending post because it's really useful and you really understand what you resteemed. But I don't think those people will resteem you in return, most of them are building their blogs and never resteem others. They are afraid to lose their followers maybe, they say they want to keep their blog clean. ☺ It's very bad to say such things, do they think that the only good posts are just theirs, do they think they are better than others ? Funny. ☺
People in trending and hot posts are already earning a lot and they will not care about you, a little fish, to resteem your posts in return, wait for that forever if you want to keep resteeming all their posts. Minnows are the helpful people, it's good to resteem them because they are usually thankful. Even if minnows don't resteem you in return, at least they will upvote you or follow you and it's also good. A minnow can help you with a good advice and following him is the better thing to do for fishies. I am proud to be a minnow, and I see that I will be in this status for a long time and I don't hurry to be a dolphin or a whale.

I’m Trying to help a guy, @average-joe, run a contest here and i need help in getting the contestnoticed. If the post has great information and I think other people, especially minnows, can benefit from it then I resteem it on my account. I could care less if I earn from it or if the person resteemed something of mines back. I do simply because it's great information. Great info is just that, and if it's gonna help others, why not...? I don't aspect anything in return because I feel that it sets a person up to let themselves down if things don't go the way that they want.
