How does the saying go?... Time flies when you're having fun.
We all know that when it comes to projects or assignments that needs to be handed in at school with a certain time limit, some of us 'forget' about them and start rushing to get it done 8pm on Sunday evening.
Sometimes being prepared and managing your time to hand in your project or assignment on time is not so uncool after all and saves you from humiliation or worse, your parents and teachers being on your case all the time.
Here are some tips on how to manage your time when you receive your project or assignments right through to completing it. For the sake of the post let's work with a week or 5 days that you are given to hand in your project.
On the day of receiving the project, look it over and set out a plan for when you will be doing what. For example:
Day 1:
Plan out the structure and decide how many points you want to discuss under each section. Divide your sections into 2 to 3 days and do proper research.
Day 2 to 4:
Do your research on your sections. Let your project research form a part of your everyday homework routine, plan for enough extra time if this is a big project. And remember, too many information is better than none at all, and who knows, maybe this information will stick with you as a conversation starter in the future.
Day 5:
Use your last day to put everything together and leave extra time in case you do not have enough information. get your parents, sister, brother or friend to proof read your information on the project. This could also spark new ideas or even some changes that lands you more points in the bank.
Now that you have a better idea of what you need to do on which day, start out by making sure you completely understand what is expected of you by your teacher or professor. As soon as you fully understand the project, you can start your planning. This will help in the long run.
The key to managing a project is time. Make sure you leave enough time for each section or phase of your project. Once you have a plan in place and you stick to it, it will make keeping track of your progress so much easier.
Very important to remember when planning - life happens, so make sure you leave time for unforeseen circumstances.
