Vital signs

Your vital signs are a go to resource for a nurse during a physical assessment. If one of them changes, it kind of points us in a direction, and gives us an idea of what actions to take next. Each one has an array of potential causes that can effect them.

Normal Vital Ranges for a [Newborn]

• Temperature:
  35-37.5 C (96-99.5 F)
• Pulse:
  80-160 per minute
• Respirations:
  30-80 per minute
• SpO2: Oxygen-saturation
  95%-100%
• Blood pressure:
  Systolic - 60-90
  Diastolic - 20-60

Normal Vital Ranges for a [1 year old]

• Temperature:
  37.4-37.6 C (99.4-99.7 F)
• Pulse:
  80-140 per minute
• Respirations:
  24-40 per minute
• SpO2: Oxygen-saturation
  95%-100%
• Blood pressure:
  Systolic - 74-100
  Diastolic - 50-70

Normal Vital Ranges for a [6 year old]

• Temperature:
  36.6-37 C (98-98.6 F)
• Pulse:
  75-110 per minute
• Respirations:
  15-25 per minute
• SpO2: Oxygen-saturation
  95%-100%
• Blood pressure:
  Systolic - 84-120
  Diastolic - 54-80

Normal Vital Ranges for a [15 year old]

• Temperature:
  36.1-37.2 C (97-99 F)
• Pulse:
  50-90 per minute
• Respirations:
  15-20 per minute
• SpO2: Oxygen-saturation
  95%-100%
• Blood pressure:
  Systolic - 94-120
  Diastolic - 62-80

• Temperature:
  35.5-37.5 C (95.9-99.5 F)
• Pulse:
  60-100 per minute
• Respirations:
  12-20 per minute
• SpO2: Oxygen-saturation
  95%-100%
• Blood pressure:
  Systolic - 90-120
  Diastolic - 60-80

• Temperature:
  35-37.2 C (95-99 F)
• Pulse:
  60-100 per minute
• Respirations:
  15-20 per minute
• SpO2: Oxygensaturation
  95%-100%
• Blood pressure:

  Diastolic - 60-80
