Don't decide the grass is greener until you've actually seen it.

I think everybody's heard the expression the grass is always greener on the other side.

It's easy to hear something like that but not take it seriously.

After all, there are so many different sayings and expressions in the English language that a simple one like this one could just slip by without having been given a second thought.

You should think about it though, because it's extremely relevant to our everyday lives.

Everybody gets fed up with their daily existence.

We get frustrated by our boss, we get upset by our living arrangements, we might become irritated with our significant other.... these things happen to everyone.

So how do we react?

I don't need this job.

I can find a better place to live quickly and easily.

I don't have to put up with their nonsense, I could find someone else before lunch time.

It makes sense in the moment.

Ultimately, making a change might even be the right decision.

However, you should never make a change without weighing your options and being absolutely certain that they are the way they seem.

Before quitting your job you should have another one lined up. In fact, you should already be hired at another company BEFORE submitting your notice.

There's no guarantee that you will actually like the other job better either so you should leave your current job on good terms.

Before moving you should make sure that you can find a place that charges the same amount or less than you're currently paying. Either that, or a place that is much higher quality in a better neighborhood.

You should not make a lateral move because that just doesn't make any sense. Don't move based on rash decisions.

Before leaving your significant other, there are a whole myriad of questions should be asked. I won't even get into all of the repercussions here, but I will say that you must consider this question "Will I miss them? Is it worth it?"

The most important thing to remember is that situations tend to get better in time.

If they don't get better then sure it's okay to leave, just take care to get a good picture what's really going on.

It's easy to think the grass is greener when it actually isn't.

Don't decide the grass is greener until you've actually seen it.

I agree. I think that is why when EOS launches you'll see many Steemians with a new account there while they continue to have a presence here. Will be interesting to see if indeed the grass is greener.

Well when EOS launches I don't think anything big is going to happen at first. The coins will be switched to the main coins on June 1st, but I don't think any kind of social media platform is going to be launched for quite some time. Unless Dan has secretly been building it already and he already has it ready to go but I don't think he does. The whole point of EOS isn't the social platform although there will supposedly be one eventually.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it. I don't want to spread misinformation. Blessings.

I think there is a lot of social conditioning and generational conditioning (what is happening in a particular country that might influence a particular generation) that influences a person's reasoning. It's interesting to study how these different generations feel about life and different important topics. I think it is far easier now to influence people and to communicate these influences that it is a little concerning. I think it leaves little time for people to connect to themselves. According to the Pew research, the millennials have the lowest percentage of marriages of any generation before them, 28% of them marry. And this has consistently declined with each new generation since the "the greatest generation". I think that says something. How we view life is fundamentally changing.

Yes that's also true. Different countries see things differently and so do different Generations. In fact you might even think that another country is a better place than the one that you live in and that might not turn out to be true either. The grass almost always does look greener.

So true, @jeezzle ! So, so true.

A failing most people have.

Yep.

Sometimes, the field next to the one your standing in looks greener, when you move to it, the field you were first in looks greener.
Remember, whenever you move, you take yourself with you. And that is where most problems lie.

That's the truth. Change starts with yourself.

So true. Still 2 ft of snow on the ground here so I am sure the grass is greener in most places around the world !

Well, the grass is pretty green around here but it's really hot and the insects are all over the place.

You have a good view @jeezle,the explanation you gave had proved that don't say the grass is always greener on other side before we seen and proved it by ourself.
Thanks for share it.

Thanks.

Awesome post, thanks for your constant enlightenment it's worth a great deal.
