WELCOME
Dear Steemians Community...
Your average travel enthusiast is not one to sit behind a desk on a daily basis. Boredom is likely to set in if an adventure is not thrown their way on the odd occasion. That’s OK! We need these explorers and adventurous types, these are the characters that introduce us to the world!
A free-spirited traveller needs a new environment almost daily, they need to be surrounded by diverse people, different buildings and new discoveries. One of the professions that fits this desire is that of a Tour or Travel Guide. This job description is far from monotonous!
Now, you can be a casual guide who invites friends along for a tour and charge a buck here and there. Or, you might want to pursue this field as a profession. To become a qualified Tour Guide you will need to obtain a degree or certificate from a registered university or tertiary education institute.
With an official qualification in the field, you will be able to apply for a job as a tour guide at various travel agent companies or even at hotels around the world. Without this qualification, there is little chance that you will get a well-paying job offer.
Here’s How You Can Obtain an Official Travel Agent/Guide License in Indonesia:
"Official certificate in Indonesia are issued by the Indonesian Tourism Profession Certification Institute (LSP Parindo). LSP Parindo is entitled to hold the certification under license from BNSP (National Agency for Professional Certification) through BNSP Decree number KEP.061 / BNSP / I / 2012 issued on 27 January 2012."
"In addition, LSP Indonesia Tourism is also entitled to certify other professions related to tourism activities such as tour guiding, tour planning and ticketing, hotel and restaurant professions."
"LSP Indonesia Tourism has branches in every province. Their aim is to facilitate the process of certification and supervision of the quality of human resources in the field of tourism in each province. In this way, the quality of tourism in our country can be more controlled and well monitored."
Types of Guides
Just like most professions, there are many avenues you can pursue as a qualified Tour Guide. I will list them for you as follows:
1. Local Guides
A local guide is someone who’s main task is to guide tourists around the town or city they reside in and explain the main features. If you want a career in the travel industry without having to do too much studying, then you can be a local guide. This is because you only need to master the material in your location only.

2. Custom Tour Guide with Specialized Expertise
Special guides with special expertise are those who are tasked with providing guidance and assistance/information on a particular attraction with activities that require special skills. Activities that require special skills are like diving, trekking, or rock climbing. These activities are quite dangerous if not done with an expert in the field. This type of guide requires extra courses and studying to be done.
3. General Guide
A public guide is someone who is tasked with providing guidance, illumination and information on the surrounding sights and helping with everything that tourists need in a particular area and/or throughout the region. Being a public guide is great fun. This type of guide has a more dynamic rhythm than other guides because you can go on a guided tour to any place you care about across the region. Becoming a public guide is more difficult than being a local guide because you have to be able to master a lot of material from various objects and tourism activities. You also should be able to learn fast because often you will be sent to a location you have never been to before.
4. Leader / Tour Manager
A tour leader or tour manager is someone who is in charge of organizing the lead travel group of tourists in a particular region, national or international. If you are the type of person who wants to earn a greater income, then this type of tour guide is what you need to learn. However, being a tourist leader is not as easy as being a public guide because the material and tasks that need to be learnt are more complex. But you can think of it as an exciting challenge!
All that began with anger, will end up with shame

At one time I thought about being a travel agent, but I think I have moved on from that. I was not able to get the required classes and the interest just faded away. I've moved on. I think I'm more suited for a Travel Blogger anyway. Of course, I don't have that job right now either.

I'm really relaxed here. I have no job. Retired. Just doing whatever I want each day. I think a travel blogger would be better, believe it or not.
