Introduction to One Quarter (One Fourth)

When there are four equal parts of a whole then each part is known as one quarter or one fourth (which means one out of four). Quarter is among the most basic fractions and kids in second grade should know it.

For example; we choose a pizza and cut it into four equal slices and each slice is called one quarter. Parents can use such examples from daily life to introduce and explain about one quarter and other basic fractions to their kids. Other daily life examples include chocolate chip cookies and chocolate bars.
