RESPONSIBILITY OF CHILDREN.

Sitting watching all of God’s creation here on my rock, I am thinking that I have never met a child who did not want an animal of his own.

Most children like dogs or cats or some gold fish.

Maybe even some birds, like parrots or budgies.

Thinking about this, it is a good thing as it teaches them to look after something.

What does bother me is when they for instance see a puppy; they fall in love with it.

The problem sometimes start, when the animal grow up and is just a normal dog.

They then are inclined to forget to look after this dog that they wanted so badly.  They forget to feed it and give it water to drink, and even play with it, as it is not cute anymore.

I am not saying all children are like that but there are many who do this.

Now the mother or father looks after the animal, and that is what I want to write about.

Teach your children that when you have picked an animal, it is your responsibility.

The way I taught my children was by telling them when they were babies; they were a lot of work.

What would have happened if I decided you are bigger now and we will stop looking after you at all?

We do not feed you, we do not bathe you and we leave you thirsty.

That would have made you either die, or feel very unhappy.

So just like babies grow up, so do puppies.

If you stop looking after them, they will feel just as unhappy as they are also living things and they may love you very much, as you had been playing with them and loved them.

There are many other ways of teaching, but that was mine.

It worked as well as our daughter had a dog that was killed when he was 15 years old and it really hit her hard.

Why? Because she was looking after him all that time, and never skipped a meal or water in all his life.

She has so many dogs today, and still loves them all.

She has been a very good mother, and I really think it has been something to do with the fact that she was had learnt to look after the things she loved from a very young age.

So please teach your children to look after their own animals if they picked them and make them carry on looking after them even when they are big.

Just remember this is a very important lesson in not giving up.

It is very important for children to learn that is good to have responsibility.

By learning responsibility in this way, you will learn in a certain way to look after your children.

It is not exactly the same but because they have learnt responsibility they will be responsible enough to learn how to bring their children up.

The other good reason they should have is that you as parents were a good example, and that is the most important way to teach children how to become good and decent human beings.

You did your share in more ways not only by feeding them, but teaching them respect for other people and taking them to church, which is the most important of all as that is where they learn about the God who really take care of them.
