This is my report for what I read yesterday October 18, 2018

Book: The Handmaid's Tale
Author: Margaret Atwood
Pages: Intro through Page 9

Yesterday I wrote about how I had read my book too fast and felt like I was still wanting to be in the story even though its over.

With The Handmaid's Tale I was forced to slow down. You can't really hear the whispers of the desperate women, if you zoom by them, while worrying about the rice on the stove. You can't savor the touch of someone's fingers if you are not letting yourself be in a touch drought, even if just momentarily.

Its a heavy book Im reading, and I haven't really gotten into the story yet. Its heavy in descriptions, in stillness, in forcing you to feel like the main character is feeling.

I already watched the HULU series, and I think the familiarity with the TV show will help me through the heaviness of the book. I am reading it because I am a little annoyed that two seasons into the show I still don't know what happened to June. I want to know what happened, I want to know the end of the story. I am already captivated in this world, now I am seeing a different aspect of the dystopia.

This is my favorite genre (distopic novels) but I must admit I like "Divergent" and "Hunger Games" a whole lot more than I like "1984."

Thank you!!

I read The Handmaid's Tale a long time ago since I like the author. But it was too dark for me!

Im definitely reading it next to a sunny window and a nice breeze.

Good plan! I don't think I had nightmares, but it definitely stayed with me.
