SIGNS AND SYMBOLS

in steemiteducation •  5 years ago

Hi Steemians,
These terminologies which can be demonstrations and objects that facilitate communication without the presence of the next person needed warrant that; one should have a mastery of the signs and symbols in his locality, culture, profession, and other social settings and for his nation at large. After the mastery comes the building of a sensitive mind that can rapidly reflect on what role/action to apply in the face of a given situation.

The main road/ highway for instance have signs to guide road users who may be motorist, drivers, pedestrians and others. A mastery of these signs can greatly reduce the confusion that roams in people’s minds when found at some positions on the road. Eye cue between a teacher and learner(S) in the classroom setting can determine a teacher’s expectations from a learner on instant basis. Religions signs also exist in communities to identify worship venues like churches, mosques and shrines especially in Africa traditional religion where palm fronds, cowries, skins of animals are displaced and the nature in which these shrines are built for these purposes are decorated and located.

The state on its part has NATIONAL EMBLEMS which citizens are obliged to know the worth of each and the general scope that each in its magnitude represents the state. This brings in the civil responsibility of citizens which endeavours to build a spirit of consciousness in each citizen. In Cameroon for instance, some of these symbols are the; Flag, Motto, Seal, Coat of Arms and the National Anthem.

The profession in the state which makes greater use of national emblems than others is the military. This can be taken back in history to some European nations like Germany and Italy when the army in these states bore “SWASTIKA” and “FASCIST” in the reign of Adolf Hitler and Mussolini respectively.

Below is a picture of a chart on the National Emblems of Cameroon which I did in French and I still appeal for corrections in case I have used any language jargon.
