Unfortunately, when you took the patterns out of the package, you now realized it was covered in some strange symbol and with some kind of different lines;some which are solid and some with dots and ashes.fortunately, those symbols are standard across the seeing and patterns industry, that's why I planned to write on this.
Let's learn and study some of the most common symbols, and their meaning and the ways to use them when making a sewing

Lines is the most common symbols on a pattern, highlighting the edges of each piece you need to cut a fabric.there are different types of line in fashion design and dressmaking image(study)(study.com)

Cutting line:they are solid lines and easy to identify,it also indicates where to cut the fabric in other to match the shape on a pattern.

Pattern adjustment line:this is another type of line which is called pattern adjustment.it allows you to make a garment longer or shorter based on your needs.it usually runs across a piece And usually appears as two parallel lines.the space between it's line depends on the degree of lengthening and shortening required.

Folded lines:a folded lines look like the cutting line with breaks along it.you align the fold line and with the folded edge of fabric, leaving no extra space.

Stitch lines:these lines are farless common in contemporary, stitch lines are lines made of dashes. There is a difference between a fold lines and a stitch line which you can tell by the length of line segment.
