Forgive me if I sound like a total noob here. I am not very well educated in the subject of cryptocurrencies. Up until recently, STEEM hasn't really been on my radar. Only sbd and SP. I figured out with my earnings, I could transfer my sbd payouts to a bitcoin debit card called the Shift card, and it has been very helpful! The SP is slowly growing with each payout as well, and I hope to finally get my slider soon. But STEEM? What is this STEEM? My rewards never include STEEM, so what good is it to me. Yeah, I know, a noob.
STEEM is trade-able crypto, and I learned that it's expected to grow in value tremendously within a couple of years. If you don't invest in it with an outside currency, you have a couple of ways to get it. You could either power down your Steem Power, or you could buy it with your sbd.
I read an article recently by @tarazkp, explaining why we should be using our sbd to get STEEM. In his post he says:
100 Steem at 3 dollars can help some one for months but, 100 Steem at 50 dollars can help them for years.
This statement got me. If STEEM really rises that much in value in the years to come, wouldn't you want to be holding some?
So, because of learning this, I have decided to use a little bit of my sbd to buy STEEM with nearly every payout. To do this, you only need to go to the Blocktrades website and make the transfer. If there is another, better way, just let me know. ;) When I get a substantial enough amount of STEEM, I will then power it up to Steem Power.
You may have been like me, thinking well I need the sbd now! Trust me, if you don't do this now, you will be kicking yourself in the future!
As of right now, Steemit is my only income. As I type this, sbd is only being sold for $1.87. A month or so ago, I was making twice as much. Believe me, I understand the struggle, but I thought about it, and I can still put an sbd or two to the side before transferring the funds onto my card.
If I can do it, you can do it!

Unfortunately I need the earnings for at least some more months.. We had a loan of the company where my bf works to be able to lay the rent and deposit here.. But I decided only to cash out the SBD and keep the STEEM as long as possible just in case it rises a lot in prize :)

Powering up on steem really is the way of the future. If you play your cards right and take advantage of getting to this platform before it booms, then you can make some decent $$$

although I hope it will grow too, I wouldn't advice to blindly chase someone's long term speculations. My advice continue to learn about crypto and how to analyze it. Start from technical analysis, there are plenty of tutorials

You can also buy SP via the internal market. In your wallet, click on your SBD balance and click Market, that's what I do now. But SP is about 1.5SBD now which is expensive 😣

I have never pulled a penny from the platform and don't intend to for some time now. Would like to see how large I can grow with continued powering up over the next year to 18 months at least. Now this isn't money I need to live on, but even if it was I'd only pull the very least possible to get by and power up the rest.
The part most people miss out on is the compounding effect of powering up.

I would love to keep it all in the platform. That would be ideal. Hopefully soon I won't need the sbd. Not sure anyone can ever catch up to the big fish without substantial investment, but I'll do my best to get as close as possible. Stronger my vote is the strong my ability to help those that deserve upvotes for their work vs the crap that clutters the trending pages.
As crazy as it sounds I am hoping steem takes a dip to $1 again so I can grab a 1000 more and then it can jump back up...lol.
You need to pay the bills and it steemit can provide that for you the platform is doing what it was designed to do. You are earning money by simply writing your thoughts and then able to convert that SBD into support for your household. Think about how amazing that really is!

By saying big player, I guess I didn't mean a whale. That's an unattainable goal for 99.9% of us, but I think you will definitely be a powerful influence here (you already are, really), and successful.
I wouldn't mind if STEEM takes just one more dip as well lol. That doesn't sound crazy at all!
It truly is very beneficial right now to be able to support my family with this platform. Not only is it necessary at this time, I enjoy it. We are barely scraping by, but things have a way of working out, and my articles started making more right when I needed them to (not including this one lol)!
