On March 24, 2018, we from an independent group held a Steemit workshop to the Steemians residing in Lhokseumawe. Our goal is to educate new users and share insights and experiences about Steemit.

The workshop was warmly welcomed by the participants. We shared some of the topics presented by the speakers.

  1. @teukumukhlis, Basic Introduction of Steemit
  2. @jumaidafajar, Experience during being a Steemian
  3. @kharrazi, Blockchain and digital investment opportunities
  4. @pakulis, Entrepreneur and his views on Steemit
  5. @azirgraff, Host
  6. @saifuelbahrie, Chairman of the committee

I get a chance to be a speaker at the workshop. In this post, I will share what I have said in the workshop briefly (my presentation).

What is Steemit?

  • Steemit is a blog. There are some coding in blogs that can also be used in Steemit.
  • Steemit is a social media. Steemit also has a function as a social media where we can interact with all users of Steemit.
  • Steemit is a platform that rewards its users (Steem, SBD, and Steem Power). It is rarely encountered on a similar platform.
  • The conclusion is Steemit is a social networking platform and blogging based on Steem blockchain.

How do we begin?

  • To get a Steemit account does not cost (free)
  • Once your account is approved (the duration of approval will vary), backup your password
  • Write the first post in the form of self-introduction. It's also helpful to verify your account.

Interestingly Steemit

  • Post rewarded with Steem, SBD, and Steem Power. Steem and SBD can be converted into IDR (Indonesia Rupiah)
  • Not just blogs, but also serves as a social media
  • Unlimited creativity. We can be creative in every post
  • Fluctuating investments. We can invest in Steemit by increasing Steem Power.

What is your goal to be a Steemian? (An afterthought)

  • Want to contribute and cultivate talents in various fields
  • Just want to get paid in every post
  • Want to get both
  • The conclusion is to strengthen your goals when you become a Steemian. Do not just pursue rewards in every post, but also need to improve the quality of posts.

What should be avoided in the post?

  • Plagiarism
  • Spam (either in comments or posts)
  • Request an upvote

Tag

  • The tag should match the post content
  • Maximum in one post is 5 tag
  • Use tags in English or popular (see in trending list)
  • The first tag can not be edited, so be careful when using tags

Language

  • If your post is for a global reader, then use English
  • If your post is for local readers, then use Indonesian

Google English

  • If you use Google translate help, then consider the good Indonesian arrangement
  • Not all Indonesian vocabularies can be translated correctly by Google translate, so you must manually translate.
  • Before post is shared, read back the contents of your post

Curator

  • Basically, every Steemian is a curator, a user who gives curation to other posts in upvote form
  • Community Curator is a curator that provides curation of posts with certain topics. If you want to get their curation, then learn their rules.

The Importance of Steem Power

  • To keep the existence of the account, then let us improve Steem Power
  • The more Steem Power, then any curation we will give value to other users
  • Steem Power is our future investment, so let us invest in Steemit in the form of Steem Power

That was my short presentation in the workshop. The presentation I made in the form of Power Point. For you readers of Indonesia, you can download my presentation here.

This workshop is a very good idea.

Maybe it would be useful as well, to advice your fellow Steemians not to jump to conclusions or start commenting, in case they didn't understand the content of an article: just now I got aware of this article where @deniandepa mentions me as possible racist(!) because of my last article.
In this article I am actually defending moderate Muslims against prejudices (and after that was discussing for hours with some German Steemians trying to convince them).
But obviously some people are always complaining or feel insulted, even if one tries to help them, unbelievable ...

@deniandepa doesn't understand German at all, his English is very bad, in addition he used something like Google Translate which is not able to translate complicated articles correctly ... but nevertheless he dares to call me a racist and mentions my article as a bad example in his post.

Sorry, I'm late to read your comments. The issue of abuse by lexiconical has troubled the Muslim Steemians. I also disagree with lexiconical's article and I have left comments there. I'm sure of your neutrality.

I agree with you, maybe he (deniandepa) did not understand German well.

First of all: I calmed down again (somewhat). :-)

However, I still think it is really inappropriate to mention my post with the words "smells of racism" and a big screenshot in an article where one complains about racism. That's not really contributing to my reputation in this community, is it?

I am well aware that one can misunderstand the content if one doesn't know the language and only uses programs to translate it (but then one can simply ask instead to conclude anything wrong). For example in the last paragraph I was writing about people who always want their prejudices to be confirmed:

  • If a muslim really is a terrorist, they will say "I knew it, they are all terrorists!"
  • If a Muslim is not a terrorist, they say "OK, but he should protest louder against the Muslim terrorists!"
  • If he actually protests against terrorists, they say "That cannot be a real muslim!!" That means in their eyes either a Muslim is bad or he just isn't a Muslim. :)

This paragraph criticizes people with prejudices ... it doesn't criticizes Muslims ...

Sorry that I opened this under your article. I did it because you are a friend and I guess you are well known in your Acehnese community, so I just wanted to let you know that

a) @deniandepa is just completely wrong, and

b) what my article was really about: it was a text against prejudices, which suggests instead of using them, to evaluate humans by their words and actions (independently of their religion or country).

I also wrote that we shouldn't precondemn anybody and instead of that support peaceful-minded, cosmopolitan Muslims to strengthen their position within the Muslim community of Germany.
After writing this article I had to discuss a long time with some Germans who insisted that there were no cosmopolitan Muslims at all, but I insisted that there are ...
So I used hours of the afternoon to defend Muslims just to read later that I was called a (possible) racist ... Maybe you understand now why I felt some anger ...

Concerning @lexiconical I don't know his articles. In case he attacks Muslims in general his attitude is completely different than mine.
However, even then I think he has the right to express his opinion. You and I have the right to strongly disagree with him and contradict (to use good arguments is more effective than trying to suppress another opinion). That's called "freedom of speech", and I think we have to deal with that (we have not to agree of course, and we should use our right of free speech as well). The sense of free speech is to prevent dictatorship which only allows these opinions the dictator accepts and agrees with. As long as people are not insulting each other (everybody is responsible to try to discuss in a constructive, not destructive way) I think one should try to accept other opinions.

Sorry for the long text ...

Congratulations! Your post has been selected as a daily Steemit truffle! It is listed on rank 11 of all contributions awarded today. You can find the TOP DAILY TRUFFLE PICKS HERE.

I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least 15 SBD worth and should receive 93 votes. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.
