You can use Steemit like you want just on a different website!
Steemitstage is the testing page for the Steemit developers and you get all the features from Steemit on that website and avoid nasty downtimes like that.
The only thing that is not working are Apps that are meant for Steemit.com, for example "Steemit More Info". The functions of Steemit More Info are not working on Steemitstage.
You can write posts & publish them, you can write comments, upvote posts & comments and basically everything essential that you can do on Steemit.
