The sexual aggressor generally takes advantage of children and adolescents for their innocence. It is for this reason that with simple and not alarming instructions we can prepare children and adolescents in case they are relating to one.

What is sexual abuse?

Sexual abuse is an act of aggression committed by one person against another, performed for one's own pleasure regardless of the harm it causes to the victim. This aggression is done by force through threats and deceit. THERE ARE ADULTS WHO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE INNOCENCE OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS TO PERFORM THIS ACT.

Sexual abuse is also verbal, one person can abuse another, when he verbally assaults her using negative phrases towards her body, also when people are forced to listen and watch stories or movies that are not suitable.

Children and teenagers are not always under the care and protection of RESPONSIBLE ADULTS, but there are many people they relate to in their daily routine, and within those people there may be someone who can harm them. It is for this reason that we must teach them to be attentive to any strange behavior or attitude of acquaintances or strangers.

There are many consequences that can leave a person with sexual abuse, here are some of the serious consequences.

✤ Physical damage: Pain in intimate parts, pain when urinating or defecating, difficulty walking or sitting, unwanted pregnancy, contracting sexually transmitted diseases.

✤ Psychological damagePossibility of suicide, isolation, nightmares, fear, anxiety and depression.

Preventive measures to prevent child sexual abuse

TO PREVENT SEXUAL ABUSE IN INFANTS AND ADOLESCENTS, THE FOLLOWING SHOULD BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT:

• Be attentive to any strange attitude or comment on the part of the individual.

• Give them the confidence so that they can speak without having them believe them.

• Talk with children and teenagers about the importance of respecting their own body and that of others.

• Teach children to say NO when someone tries to touch where they shouldn't.

• To provide children and young people with age-appropriate sexual education.

• Teach children and teenagers not to communicate with strangers, much less accept gifts.

• Carry out workshops and talks in schools, to talk about the care and respect of the body.

Caring for and protecting our children and adolescents is entirely up to us, the responsible adults.
