This is How I shoot the Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis for Steemit Macrochallange!

Macro photography is a very interesting way to explore in detail the tiny world. As normal photography concentrates on the overall look of the subject, macro photography or close up photography allows us to explore the small details in subjects like flowers, insects, and other small things by bringing closer the subject.

A true Macro Lens will allow us to shoot at a 1:1 magnification and some super macro lens may allow us to 5:1 magnification. I have a true 1:1 magnification lens , the #Tamron 90mm f2.8 DI VC which is a great lens and even if I don't have a ring flash or a tripod I have been able to take some good macro pictures. One of the favorite subjects that I shoot is flowers and today I am showing you a close up of the Hibiscus Rosa sinensis #flower in a greater detail.

One of the problems with #macro photography is that it allows only a very thin depth of field and so the while of the subject may not be in focus. The trick is to select an area for highlighting the detail and putting that are of the subject in focus range. The above image highlights the stigma and the pollen of the flower.

In the second photo, changing the angle of the camera may result in a different perspective and focus range for the subject. Since I tried to shoot the flower by keeping the camera parallel to the stigma of the flower, most of the filaments also remained in-focus since they all were in the focus plane of the camera. I could have have made the pollen grains and the filaments more clearer by increasing the #f-number or by selecting a smaller #aperture so that I could get a greater depth of field. But since I did the shoot handheld and in outside, I could not do that due to obvious stability reasons (to avoid shake and more blurry image).

We can also add drama to the photograph by adding some props or other elements like water droplets:

Here, I simply sprayed some water onto the petals to get that #raindrop effect and focused onto the droplet. I could have got a better effect had I tried to get some sunlight to play some sparkling game with the droplet. I was not able to do that due to #overcast sky.

I hope you enjoyed the photos and my experience of taking them.
