One of the many wonderful things about dogs is they make you get up at ungodly hours to walk them.

Early one morning, while walking my dogs I was able to catch this Black Crowned Night Heron asleep in a tree over a lake in Frederick, Maryland.

The photo was taken with a Nikon COOLPIX S8100
