When I lived in a small Oregon town, I would frequently get hired to cover local events. In this case, I was covering a Fire Department controlled burn. It was scheduled to burn at dusk and the flames went on into the night. I shot with my favorite lens, the trusty 50mm, which means I have to "zoom in and out with my feet". I remember at a few points during the burn, I would inch closer to the house to frame my shot, and just a few steps was all it took to go from hot to TOO HOT. I felt like I was getting a sunburn, and was a little worried if the heat may effect my equipment.
