The incredible turquoise paradise you've never heard of - El Cielo - SteemitPhotoChallenge Entry

This place is called El Cielo. The name means "the sky" or "heaven" in Spanish, and it seems appropriate. The blue paradise is located on a remote part of Cozumel island in Mexico, and is only accessible by boat. For as far as you can see, the cyan water is about 5 feet deep with a soft white sand bottom and better visibility than a pool. It's an absolutely amazing place!

You can book private, guided boat tours that pick you up from town and take you to El Cielo for a few hours for just $30 to $75 per person. You will probably be the only people there as it's still relatively unknown. Cozumel is an underrated tourist destination, and you can find top-notch Caribbean experiences at very reasonable prices on the island.

This shot is my entry into the SteemitPhotoChallenge. I took these photos with my iPod touch 5th generation.

This one should help you get a sense of the texture of the soft-sand bottom.

Here's a shot of me jumping off the boat. Photo credit for this one goes to my wife.

It's not uncommon for storms like this to form quite quickly. Fortunately, we were already leaving when rain was starting.

Nice pictures and wonderful clear blue/turquoise water!

Thank you!

Beautiful shots, makes you wanna just dive in!

Thanks! :)

cool..

How is the water so blue?

I don't know exactly why it's that shade of blue, but I can say that if the water were deeper, the color would be much darker. Being 5 feet deep with a solid white sand bottom keeps it light and bright. @thecryptofiend

Yes, El Cielo indeed.

I think a blue steemit logo painted on your chest is the only thing that could have made that jumping shot better.

Haha!

Very cool photos! Would like to visit there! :)
