"Etched by life"

This week's Steemit Photo Challenge theme is hands, and for my first entry I wanted to capture the fascinating textures, lines, and patterns that fill the surface of our hands.
 

Technical details
The shot was taken using my Canon 350D with 50mm prime lens and extension tubes to get the close focus. I held the camera in one hand, and placed my other hand just in front of the lens. The lighting setup consisted of a very bright desk lamp in a darkened room to really bring out the topography of the surface.
