Steemit Photo Challenge 45 Celebrations: Joyful Colorful Wedding, The Epitome Of Celebration in IndiasteemCreated with Sketch.

Greetings!

I am happy to be entering another photo contest. I love photography because it is such a great way to share amazing experiences, of which I have many!

I find the photos I chose beautiful, but more importantly they tell a story. I make it a priority to tell a story with all my photos, rather than just posting photos. The story is even more important to me than the photo itself!

When I think of celebration, I think of weddings. All across the world, the most expensive and elaborate parties are weddings. Even in India--a place where money is far more scarce--families go all out for their weddings.

They pull out all their best clothes, prepare all the best food, and party all day!

This is a particularly cool series of photos. As I was traveling through a city while in India, I heard a lot of music and festivities, so I went in that direction. I found a wedding taking place! Although I spoke no Hindi and knew nobody, I was invited to the festivities, and I got a lot of really prime shots. Unfortunately, I only have 3 entries I am allowed for this contest, so I have chosen my favorites.

I have never been to any place with better opportunity for photography than India. The fabrics are just so colorful and beautiful. Weddings bring out the best in these colors and fabrics. The dark skin of the locals and the bright color of fabrics are just amazing.

I hope you enjoy these photos and get a feeling from them.

Entry 1 is of a child all dressed up in her finest clothes. They are a big fan of sparkly rhinestones and jewelry, as you can see on the woman holding the child. You can also see all the woman dancing in the background; dancing is a huge part of weddings in India.

Entry 2

This is a photo of the groom. It is some kind of tradition in the weddings that people offer up currency (notice I say currency and not money, as fiat is not money, because to be money must have a real value), and the groom in order to receive the currency must take it in his mouth. I chose this photo because the story is more important to me than the photos themselves.

Entry 3

I chose this photo because you get to see how beautiful these people are and also how happy they were that I was there. Although they didn't know me and I didn't speak a word of their language, they were very happy I was there. They liked me taking pictures and had a great time.

Hope everyone enjoyed these photos and gets a feel for the experience. I have so many amazing photos from this time to share and hope to do so one day.

As always I appreciate your feedback and support!

Wonderful photos. I absolutely love the colors at this wedding. I love all the stories behind the photos. About dancing at weddings in India, it actually seems to be a big part of their culture in general. If you have ever seen a Bollywood movie, they almost all have at least one extended dance in them.

Yes dancing and LIVE music is very common at any party but especially weddings!

Yes, that's definitely true :)
