πŸ“· SteemitPhotoChallenge #43 Entry - Derelict: "Abandoned Apartments"

in steemitphotochallenge β€’Β  8 years agoΒ

Ah abandoned places, urban exploration, derelict dwellings, are some things I also enjoy photographing when I'm not out shooting nature. My friend and I visited this abandoned building in northern Taiwan, after spotting it from the road when we drove by. There were still some furnishings and belongings that remained, and some rooms showed signs of occupancy by the less fortunate.

A few weeks after we explored this place, a dead body was discovered here by someone else, spooky!

The equipment I used for this shot was a Canon EOS M with a 10-22mm at 10mm.

Great shot, I think the doors give it a familiarity that emphasizes the abandonment.

Thank you @mweich, nice interpretation, I hadn't thought of that when I took it, perhaps subconsciously I framed the door where there was an opening in the blades of grass!

Accidental or not, it works!

Oh cool shot. So creepy - and there was the required dead body. I mean if you kill someone, where else would you drop the corpse?

Β  Β· Β 8 years agoΒ

Thanks @getonthetrain, thank goodness we weren't the ones to discover the body!

Thank you @gustavosuperlano!

I like the angle you chose to shoot this image. Looking up through the weeds gives poignancy to the dereliction of the buildings.

Thank you for the awesome feedback @lavenderblue!

I love that photo, it amazes me that big buildings, can get neglected like that, and that no use can be found for it, as you said some homeless people stayed in the building, I think a building like that could be converted to a shelter for the homeless!!
Thanks for sharing

Thank you @rynow, that would be a great use for an otherwise useless building :)

Nice!

Hopefully you went there with some back up. That looks like a prime spot to get kidnapped and lose a kidney. Here's to hoping you still got 2 . But great shot.

Thank you @bigram13, yeah it's prudent to bring a buddy along to these kind of places.
