Returning

Returning to my past,
Of silence and fear
A childhood forgotten,
Memories buried deep through the years.
A house full of darkness
Silent screams breaking through,
Memories or forgotten dreams,
Not knowing which ones ring true.
Retracing footsteps
of an innocence now lost
So afraid of reliving it at any cost.
So much anger bottled up
Fighting the temptation to let it out,
to create an avalanche
or live with so much doubt.
To never feeling worthy,
Feeling guilty for every smile,
Punishing myself for any happiness
That came within a mile.
I stand here now because of you,
In someways still a child,
You stole my sense of worth
You darken my mind.

Notes

This poem is very personal. I feel there is more to come, so for now I say it is part 0ne.
I consider myself to be a intermediate poet.

thank you @shivvi xx

Wow, that's really intense. The emotional conflict is very clear, and reveals how trauma can still affect us after years. Thank you for sharing this very personal piece.

A beat of your heart is that poem that you shared today, @trucklife-family. It is a beautiful flow that seeks healing, being at peace with the past, facing what hurts.

Yes it is, letting it go is so important. Thank you @zeleiracordero x

Powerful poem Aishlinn. Can feel the emotion here for sure. Always good to have ways to release the tension. Writing works for me and hope it is same for you too. So much time goes by that it seems asinine to bring it all up again and we become frozen in that moment. I feel you me'dears, this is great work. Peace x

Thank you Dan, it's good to get things out and let it flow. this competition is doing me good really, getting me to accept and let go.

That's good to hear. Don't think we gave enough credit to who is really out there in the world. Seems a lot of good is going on too :)

Sending you love. You're doing powerful healing work.
