Build And Resize Your Images With PIXLR - Video Tutorial

in steemitvideotutorials •  8 years ago  (edited)

#OriginalSteemContent - I have seen a lot of questions on Steemit about how to use and resize images for Steemit posts. I know that learning imaging software can be daunting, so I thought I'd do a video tutorial, because seeing is doing.

enter image description here

Pixlr is a free image editor, web app, it is a very powerful tool, but also very easy to use. If you are like me and you would love to know Photoshop, but don't have the time, inclination or money to do so, then Pixlr is the perfect tool to use. It is easy, reliable and best of all, completely free, with no signup commitment needed.

By the way; I am not associated or affiliated with Pixlr in any way shape or form, I just want to spread the love!

In this tutorial you will learn:

  • How to import images into PIXLR.

  • How to build up an image using multiple pictures.

  • How to resize your image.

  • How to upload your image to imgsafe, ready for use on Steemit.

Watch and enjoy!

Please comment below and put any requests for future tutorials for pixlr, or anything else you want me to cover. If I get a lot of upvotes and comments, I will take this as a sign that I should do more; if not, I'll take the hint and this will be my only one.

#OriginalSteemContent !

thanks for doing this

I wrote a short tutorial for steemit too, if you want to check it out :)

Nice, I just checked it out, that's a bit advanced for me I think! :-)

it's a challenge :)

nah, to be honest, I'm not good with this stuff either and I figured it out somehow

OK, that's inspired me to have a go later :-)

This is a fantastic idea and i'm sure it will help me but I can't watch the video as I don't have a youtube account. It requests sign in and I guess won't play without it.

Ah, ok, I'm going to have to make the video public then, give me 5 and then check back. Thanks for the heads up!

This was helpful, thanks! I have NO artistic ability or image design skills, but I think I can make something at least serviceable with what I learned from your video.

My takeaways:

That last point is something I wish I knew before I made my first post here!
I had read that steemit was eventually going to allow us to upload images here directly, and those images were going to be stored at https://ipfs.pics/ so I used that site for the images in my first post.
Warning! If you use https://ipfs.pics/ then your first image WILL NOT show up as your lead image in the post list pages!
I found this out the hard way! Now in the future, I will use http://imgsafe.org/ to store my steemit images.

Cool, I'm glad you liked it :-). I'll do another one soon, hopefully tomorrow, I'll get much more into layout as well as cutting techniques.

Thanks for the info about ifps.pics, good to know!
