Nice cycling challenge in Ljubljana

in steemitworldmap •  6 years ago

One of the most popular cycling destinations for a short, intensive after-work ride in Slovenian capital is certainly Toško Čelo. In the afternoon you can see all sorts of people and bicycles, climbing the hill.

Interesting part starts from the Bike Park Ljubljana, very nice place if you are trying to kill yourself in a funny way or at least trying to broke a shoulder.

After about 3km of climbing and about 100-150m of difference in altitude, you will be awarded with a great view and effortless downhill ride.

If your bike is suitable for downhill/off road you can take some of steep dirt paths. Otherwise, with a road bike you will enjoy very smooth tarmac.

Additionally, you can enjoy riding on the cycle/pedestrian path that is passing through the wood.

If you are in Ljubljana, and you want to sweat a bit or avoid becoming fat after eating a lot of bograch - try this challenge.

Your bike blog reminds me of an exchange we had about 3 months ago. My daughter was planning a trip to Europe and I was kind of horrified when I read your descriptions of crime. Well, she has returned, safely. She was mostly in the UK (Wales, Scotland, England, N. Ireland) and France (Paris). She rented bikes everywhere. In Paris she made a 38-mile round trip to the Eiffel Tower.

All in all her Europe trip was great, but she did report on some of the social ills you mentioned, even though she was very careful about where and when she traveled.

I've studied history (my undergraduate major) and have been to Europe three times over the years. There are definitely changes, but as a student of history I expect that.

We're taught when we are children that borders are fixed and the order of the world is somehow knowable. None of this is true.

The world is in flux. Europe is in flux. We can do our best to influence it positively, in our own small ways, but mostly we are just bystanders to history.

See what a lovely post on bike riding the country has stirred up?

Hello! I'm glad to hear that.

I moved from France to Slovenia. Trump's wife is from Slovenia :D.
Lovely little country. Now I'm trying to find a permanent job here and stay, maybe forever.

The society is very healthy, young people are establishing families, having children.
The whole nation is constantly "outdoor". Even forests are full of hikers, cyclists...
If you look at Instagram profile of an average girl, 90% of the photos will be from some mountains.
People are friendly and it's very common to pick up the conversation with a complete stranger.

If she decides to make a Roadtrip 2.0, my recommendations are definitely the Alpine countries: Slovenia, Austria, Northern Italy and Swiss.

Money and opportunity permitting, she' like to go next year, and has mentioned Italy. As the time approaches, I may ask for recommendations. Her favorite places on this trip were green :)
