SteemJ for Freelancing Week 1 Update: Key Features + Income!

Will SteemJ make getting hired for a job and posting a job as easy as posting on Steemit? After 1 week, what has happened since the initial launch at https://steemit.com/steemj/@jerrybanfield/2000-steem-prize-develop-steemj-com-for-steemit-freelancing ?

Thanks to a call today with @sarasate, the developer of https://www.steemdocs.com/ and Insteem, I learned that I need a concise summary of the key developer targets shared in bullet points followed by an explanation of how the developer is compensated on an ongoing basis along with a future roadmap. I hope to provide those for reading in less than five minutes starting now!

Developer key objectives for initial launch of SteemJ.

  1. Sign in via Steemit account and posting key as ChainBB by @jesta allows at https://beta.chainbb.com/.
  2. Make posts within SteemJ in a web browser similar to https://busy.org by @ekitcho and @fabien with the ability to schedule posts and either immediately or eventually collect a percentage of author rewards all going to the developer.
  3. Offer a homepage similar to http://news.insteem.com/ where browsing jobs, freelancers, steemgigs, and SteemJ posts is easy which also explains the purpose of SteemJ and has space for a YouTube tutorial I will create showing how to use it.
  4. Allow every profile page from steemit to be displayed as a profile on SteemJ as featured above.
  5. Google analytics tracking on all pages.
  6. Secure browsing with https.

Developer compensation!

  1. 2,000 Steem for finishing the first functional and community approved version of SteemJ.com paid by me from https://steemit.com/@jerrybanfield/transfers.
  2. 5% of total post rewards for every post created on SteemJ.com as long as the developer is actively maintaining and improving SteemJ.com. This will give authors 70%, upvoters 25%, and the SteemJ developer 5%.
  3. Most of my new posts will go through SteemJ.com once it is up and has the ability to schedule posts because I want to give the developer a consistent payout from the beginning.
  4. Posting weekly updates of SteemJ.com will earn an upvote from me at a minimum with the possibility to earn what some of the top app updates like ChainBB and eSteem get which is $500 to $1,000 per post.
  5. I expect SteemJ to provide a developer with at least part time income from the beginning with a full time equivalent income within a year of launch!

Roadmap of future features!

  1. Find help page for tracking freelancers most recently online and interested in working.
  2. Browse jobs page for showing most recent new jobs posted.
  3. Allow users to manually manage adding posts about steemgigs, jobs complete, and now hiring to their profile.
  4. Integrated private messaging without having to sign up for any third party service. This alone would make SteemJ worth using even without caring about the freelancing features.
  5. Track SteemJ earnings and spending from memos sent that include SteemJ.
  6. Enable each user to write a custom profile description different from what is on Steemit.
  7. Refer a friend bonus offering 2% of the author rewards from bringing any new friend in which would drop the developer fee to 3% on a referral sign up.

My marketing plans for SteemJ!

  1. Make videos on Facebook and YouTube showing SteemJ.
  2. Google responsive display ads to SteemJ.
  3. Steemit crowdfunding campaigns offering to spend all rewards on ads for SteemJ as seen already with Steemit at https://steemit.com/steemit/@jerrybanfield/steem-video-ad-1-on-facebook-and-youtube-featuring-10-reasons-for-usd10-steem-in-10-months.
  4. Emails explaining SteemJ to scholars enrolled at The University of Jerry Banfield.

Thank you to @sarasate for explaining to me the need to make a more concise post that is fast to read and @o5faruk for beginning work on a functional version of SteemJ as well as the @steemgigs team for working to actively collaborate with me! If you would like to contribute to the development of SteemJ, would you join us at https://steemit.chat/channel/steemj because this is where we are all currently together? Thank you @acidyo for forwarding my request to @pfunk who was kind enough to create this channel for us!

Would you help me make SteemJ a reality by upvoting this post and/or sharing your feedback below because it will add a lot of value to our community and help each of us connect more effectively to make money online?

freelancers have been offering their services to steemians via the #steemgigs tag for months. @surpassinggoogle came up with the idea when steemit was still in it's infancy. If you have any questions, come chat with us on the Steemgigs Discord Channel

Two posts in one day...unbelievable, Jerry. Unbelievable!

Sounds good!

Wow amazing project, this sounds great :).

WOW, this will be a huge project! I'm looking forward to this coming in fruition!

I like the idea for this project Jerry, but I wonder how much more successful this project could be if fiat gateways could some how be incorporated into the platform.

I understand the technical and potentially legal challenges this idea poses, but unless there is an easier way to get USD for your work the user adoption pool will be limited to the Steemit community only (and just a fraction of that).

Is there any way to partner with some sort of service or exchange network to help provide an easier transition between Steem and USD? I just feel like this is the greatest limiting factor for this new idea and if people could get paid easier and faster, it may be the biggest reason for its ultimate success.

Steemians can already offer their services and products to one another using the #steemgigs tag, and get paid directly with STEEM or SBD. Of course, arrangements could be made to accept payment some other way. If you have any questions, come chat with us on the Steemgigs Discord Channel

If only we would have had thousands of dollars to get this idea up and going when we had it a month ago... @steemgigs

I have been using Upwork for a long time. SteemJ would bring the possibility of freelancing to a whole other level. Good work Jerry.

Did you know you can already offer or find freelance jobs here on steemit with the #steemgigs tag?
It's been around for a while, but doesn't have much visibility. Come chat with us on the Steemgigs Discord Channel

great idea

SteemJ sounds great, thanks for sharing. I think 5% sounds like a good price for having good developers there. And the fact that you pay 2000 steem to the developer(s) that make the first useable platform will probably make it happen quicker. Keep up the good work, love your videos!

unfortunately, I'm not a developer to participate but sounds like a grounded and interesting idea. Hope to see the result soon and even become a user!

awesome!

@jerrybanfield continue your good work. You are a blessing to us.
Resteemed as usual for more people to get to know you.
Steemit is the Best among the best with people like you

wow this is very interesting and cool,, I love the idea behind this and i am looking forward to see what and where this will stand in the future!

Using the #steemgigs tag, freelancers can already offer their services and get paid direcly on steemit.

If you have any questions, come chat with us on the Steemgigs Discord Channel

Jerry, You always post good content, I like upvote and resteem your posts. Thanks..

This is something I was looking for
Thank you @jerrybanefield for letting us know and to share your valuable thoughts

If you have services to offer, or are looking for freelancers, you can already use the #steemgigs tag without leaving steemit! If you have any questions, come chat with us on the Steemgigs Discord Channel

great tips! thanks for sharing, upvoted

Great work Jerry. It would be nice if we had direct messaging on here

wow great!!!!!

Thanks Jerry for posting shorter version. Keep it up. Upvoted :)

This is a fantastic idea. Glad to see devs and the community on board. Using a service like this, with the transparency and reliability of the blockchain backing it up, is exactly what INNOVATION in this field is all about.

I am certain I will offer my services to others once it is complete. Another way to get the community stronger and more tight knit. To foster and build professional relationships all within the Steemit platform . . I dig it man.

You can already offer your services directly on steemit with the #steemgigs tag! It's a great way to earn some steem doing freelance work for others. It's been around for a while, but doesn't have youtube money to promote it.

If you have any questions about how it all works, join us on the Steemgigs Discord Channel

Thank you @thatsweeneyguy

I am a member of the Discord channel, but I honestly haven't checked it out that much. I will definitely go through and familiarize myself with steemgigs. And hopefully, maybe I can be of service! Or could use the hellp of others.

Our current goal is 5000 #steemgigs posts, and we're well on our way!

Great! I hope SteemJ will be a success :)

Steemj is a really good idea, I upvoted and resteemed :)

That's a great idea! Let's promote Steemit everywhere!

sounds greaaaat nice job mate @jerrybanfield

Will someone join me in the journey fora giving 1 million in sales ?

What about viral video to promote this?

Awesome! Thanks for sharing! :D

It is a huge project that interests me a lot. I'll follow you for news. Thank you for this discovery.

Thank you this is a great great idea it will help a lot of people in the community, ask us we will help you anyway we can to make it become a reality. This is an important improvement for the steem community and i am sure we are all behind you. A big big thank you for this project.

Very good!, i am looking forward to this!, would be awesome to find an alternative to fiverr and upwork

You do know about the Steemgigs Discord Channel, right?

Yes of course i am there :D

These are the kinds of projects that I'm excited about. I am an aspiring web and blockchain developer, but I'm not up to this skill level yet.

I'll be following this project... perhaps when it's launched I'll be able to use it to get smaller web/blockchain dev gigs.

The #steemgigs tag has existed for a while for this exact purpose :D If you have a service to offer, make a post about it, and make your first tag #steemgigs

If you have any questions about how it all works, join us on the Steemgigs Discord Channel

I'm not understanding 100% :)

So is SteemJ being created to help other people get freelance jobs? Or are you offering a freelancing job to someone who can build it for you? Sorry, just curious :)

Just like always Jerry, you are putting out the good work. Interesting read.

Peace,
The Last Sage

the features are great thanks a lot for sharing and keep on posting ;)

SteemJ still sounds like a great idea Jerry! I am happy to see that you are gathering insight from other community members to help further pursue your idea!

I am grateful that we have such great people and developers who are actively developing the steemit community. All this contributes to the accelerated development of this wonderful platform 👍

Yes, I would like to make SteemJ a reality. What can I do at this stage to contribute. Please let me know Jerry. Thanks
