Meditation is simply a deep thinking process that involves the act of focusing your mind on a particular thought, object or activity leaving out other things that may come to your mind. Meditation is a technique of engaging in a mental exercise which which involves concentration of breathing and having a deep focus. It is done in order to achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm state of mind.
There is no right or wrong definition of meditation what is true about meditation is that it puts you in contact with your inner and higher self, the part of you that is directly connected with God (your heart)
I would not go deep to talk about the types of meditation or it's connection with religion but today I will just go on to tell you the advantages of meditation.

There are so many advantages to meditation but I am going to state some of them here. A good meditation has mostly physiological benefits, psychological benefits and spiritual benefits
Practically meditation helps to lower oxygen consumption and it decreases respiratory rate, it can increases blood flow and slows the heart rate. Meditation can help one to increases exercise tolerance as it leads to a deeper level of physical relaxation. It is very good for people with high blood pressure and it reduces anxiety attacks by lowering the levels of blood lactate.
For the ladies it helps to reduce Pre-menstrual Syndrome symptoms and it can also help in post-operative healing by enhancing the immune system.
Meditation enhances energy, strength and vigor and it helps to build self-confidence and it also helps to control your! own thoughts
Meditation helps to focus with concentration as it increase creativity, brain wave coherence, learning ability and memory.
It helps to increase emotional stability and it helps the mind to age at slower rate!
It makes it quite easier to remove bad habits, develops intuition and increase productivity!
It decrease in potential mental illness and helps one to develop better and more sociable behavior and it can reduce the need and dependency on drugs, pills & pharmaceuticals.
Meditation can help to increase the sense of responsibility and it decrease in restless thinking and the tendency to worry. It gives one's mind greater tolerance to situation.
Meditation helps learn forgiveness and it changes one's attitude toward life.
It helps to create a deeper relationship with your God and to attain enlightenment!
The superb thing about meditation is that it is completely, and It requires no special equipment, and is not complicated at all. Meditation can be practiced anywhere, at any given moment, and it is not time consuming because you can take only (10-30min to do a good meditation), best of it all is that meditation has NO negative side effects, the questions you should ask yourself is “why am I not meditating yet?”
If you need a point to start from, you should try guided meditation courses which you can find online and there are inexpensive but it can provide you with a good foundation from which to begin meditating.
Meditation is also completely FREE! It requires no special equipment, and is not complicated to learn. It can be practiced anywhere, at any given moment, and it is not time consuming (15-20 min. per day is good). Best of all, meditation has NO negative side effects. Bottom line, there is nothing but positive to be gained from it!
