Andrew Cuomo Resigns, Thinks Italians Are Perverted
A flurry of Democratic lawmakers called for his resignation, including the vast majority of the New York congressional delegation and all 50 state lawmakers. On Tuesday, Carl Heastie, the New York Assembly speaker who authorized the assembly in March to begin impeachment proceedings against Cuomo, said the investigation would continue. Cuomo said the report released by Attorney General Letitia James last week detailing allegations of sexual harassment of 11 women was a “serious issue.” He said it was characterized by “no credible factual basis.” He said that the claims made by women were offended by his dating behavior, not his criminal behavior.
Reports of Ruch, who worked during President Barack Obama’s second term as a White House photographer, made her the second woman to accuse Cuomo of touching her inappropriately without permission, stumbling broader calls for his resignation, including from within his party. The investigation also found that Cuomo and his team retaliated against former employees who had come forward. In a video message released after James’ briefing, Cuomo, 63, made it clear that he intended to deny that he had misbehaved.
Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday that he would stand down for two weeks from the sexual harassment scandal that paralyzed his administration, with effect for two weeks, not wanting to distract the state from the vital work that needs to be done, by him, lol.
Cuomo’s denial words marked the continuation of a stance that has weakened in recent weeks as he has doubled down on his claim that he didn’t molest anyone and that the investigation itself was political. He told an alleged victim that he had tried to help her cope with her experience of sexual assault, cited his Italian-American heritage, and played a slide show of politicians kissing people in public. He is not perverted. He is just Italian.
Cuomo’s resignation comes a week after a scathing report by Attorney General found at least 11 current and former employees sexually harassed, including a police officer assigned to his protection for women in the government. The governor also faces possible impeachment by state lawmakers over the allegations. In addition, the resignation comes as five district attorneys across the state have begun investigating Cuomo’s possible crimes against women.
Governor Andrew Cuomo is fighting for his political life amid calls for resignation. Also, there is an investigation by local law enforcement and threats of impeachment in the state legislature after the Attorney General discovered that he had sexually harassed eleven young women in his office and office. A majority of members of the New York Assembly told The Associated Press said they supported impeachment proceedings against Cuomo if “the Governor” does not resign. Cuomo’s future as governor of the state is in doubt after the Attorney General published a report Tuesday that found that he sexually harassed at least 11 women, including nine current or former employees, in violation of state and federal laws.
According to an independent investigation by Attorney General Letitia Jamess’ office, the New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office has committed a pattern of sexual harassment of female employees that violated federal and state laws. As a result, Albany and Westchester County District Attorneys have sought materials from the New York Attorney General as part of a possible criminal investigation into harassment allegations against the governor. The conduct claimed in the report released Tuesday occurred while the two district attorneys general were together. Still, James said the findings of the investigation would have a civilian impact only.
In the reports released Tuesday, New York Attorney-General Letitia James said that the Governors’ behavior created a hostile work environment and violated several federal and state laws. The three-time governor said he would step down in a fortnight. Westchester County District Attorney Mimi Rocah said her office would review the governor’s interactions with a New York State trooper in his Mount Kisco home. In addition, Albany County Attorney David Soares will examine Cuomo’s interactions with female employees in his home. A Marist / SNAP poll conducted Tuesday night found that 59% of New Yorkers, including 52% of registered Democrats, think Cuomo should resign, but if he does, they say he should be impeached also.
While a defiant Cuomo clung to office, state legislators launched impeachment proceedings, and the entire Democratic establishment in New York abandoned him, not only over the allegations but also over the discovery that his government concealed thousands of COVID-19 deaths among nursing homes patients. Somehow he may have bribed doctors to kill patients to get numbers up.
The investigation confirmed the women’s accounts and added lurid new ones. The release of the reports left Cuomo isolated, his loyal supporters abandoned him, and even President Joe Biden joined the call for his resignation. Imagine, a sexual predator asking for another’s resignation. Cuomo must have been so upset.
Cuomo is the son of former Gov. Mario Cuomo, who served his third term and seemed to be a candidate to win a fourth term in 2022. Cuomo’s father, Mario Cuomo, who died at 82 in 2015, was the son of Italian immigrants who served from 1983 to 1994 as governor of New York. He would be rolling in his grave if he heard his son’s comments on Italians.
