“Let's be very clear: Strong men - men who are truly role models - don't need to put down women to make themselves feel powerful. People who are truly strong lift others up. People who are truly powerful bring others together.”- Michelle Obama
For the longest time women have always been seen as behind the scene persons, to give birth, run households and a lot of other stuff. Of late there has been a lot of ‘uprising’ of sorts by women, Why?
They are standing up for their rights, saying what is wrong, what is not acceptable and it has and will continue to cause a stir. And I didn’t start now, look at the French Revolution, women played a great role in abolishing the Monarchy in 1792. Look at the civil rights movements in the 1950s that have helped transform gender roles through the decades. (Source: Wikipedia)
Let us come back to the 21st Century with more and more allegations of Sexual misconduct to women cropping up by the day, Wenstein is down, Louse C.K just cancelled a show cause of the mount of the allegations against him, even the U.S president hasn’t been left out. What does this tell us? Well, Women are able to stand for themselves and air their views, and be listened to just like every other man out there, so Why all the backlash? Even in the hunting and gathering days men have always been the providers, the one’s to be seen.
Men have been conditioned that it’s your duty to provide (and yes it is), but is provision only about material things? What if the man isn’t able to provide? Does that make him less of a man? Women have evolved to want more from a man, not just material provision, a lot more women nowadays are able to provide well for themselves, so what do women really want?
- Support
Just a little support goes a long way to show that you care, that you are one with her not only in flesh but also as a pillar she can lean on, when things are not so good. Women do multiply whatever is given to them (and its Biblical), so why should they not also support men in their endeavours for the greater good?
2. Motivation
Who doesn’t want to be motivated once in a while? I bet we all do. Women need motivation just like anyone else, that they are not just baby pushers but meaningful members of society and families that can contribute positively. They need to feel loved, appreciated and wanted and that’s what motivates most of us.
3. Vulnerability
This is really the hardest, a man opening up!? Women connect at a higher emotional and mental level even within their sisterhoods. As a man opening up about your fears, dreams, wants really isn’t second nature to a man. For most they view it as a weakness. You want to live in harmony, be open to what you want, where you want to go, open up to the growth women provide, the support and nurturing nature they are known for. It’s not about material things anymore or having a back seat at home, it’s about human connection, an evolution of the female form.
Note:
This are my opinions and they are not meant to objectify any man or woman in any way.

I love the quote by Michelle, It's like she always knows what to say :)
You broke it down very well especially at a point where gender roles are being redefined.

I love this.
I agree with this but I always respect a man who can talk about his dreams and fears.

I love this post. More so because I am not really a feminist. But I understand the power of being a woman. The need for support, motivation, and acceptance of vulnerability from men. This over time creates strong relationships where traditional roles are not mandated to one side, but are seen as tasks to make a the team stronger. This is powerful cmbugua. .
