in steemkitchen •  7 years ago

Hi Steemers, this week we continue with the interviews at SteemKitchen, it is the turn to meet our beautiful chef @joyrobinson.

1. Who is Joyrobinson?

First of all, Thank you @albertocotua and @freetissues for this wonderful initiative of "Knowing Steem Kitchen: Interview series". Knowing our Steemit friends with whom we share the same interests is a wonderful thing because we don't just share the same interests but most of all, we learn something new from each other.

So without further ado,

My username @joyrobinson comes from my nickname "joy" and my family name. I'm a wife to a wonderful and loving husband who also love cooking. I'm a sister and only one daughter in our family. An art and nature lover.

2. Where are you from and what do you do?

I was born in Davao City, the largest city in my home country, Philippines but me and my husband is currently living in Spain.

I work as a home-based online customer support (answering amazon/eBay customers inquiries and data encoding jobs) for my husband's small family business in Staffordshire, England. I'm also a self-taught artist.I do landscape acrylic paintings in my free time and sell some of them online. I also write and blog about my recipes, paintings, Philippines and Europe travels in Steemit.

3. What is your favorite thing to do?

I love photographing and painting nature, that's why I'm trying to enhance and explore photography and my painting skills. It's my kind of "me time"

I love DIY projects. I enjoyed cooking and baking something new for my love ones and most of all, traveling and exploring places I've never been yet (if time and budget permits).

4. What is your function within this great community called Steemkitchen?

I'm proud to be one of the Steem Kitchen article writers.
I have an ongoing "Superfood Series" until the end of the month and if you've missed it, here are the first two:

When @freetissues ask me if I could take part for @steemkitchen, I didn't hesitate to go for it because the kitchen has a big part in my heart. Why? Well, my first job when I was 17 years old was working in a restaurant called "Sweet Temptation" which is known and used to have three branches in my hometown. I have so many first time memories in my first ever job including first time to cook some of our country's delicacies and it is where my passion for foods started. It's where I also learned to be mature and independent. As the saying goes:"In school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson."

5. What is your favorite food and why?

I have lots of favorite foods! From Filipino foods to Spanish and Italian foods. Most of them involves rice, pasta, seafoods, spice and herbs!

Some photos of the dishes I made (sushis, paella & squid ink pasta)👇🏻

I consume at least one table spoon of honey and coconut oil everyday when I feel like I'm craving for sweets and it's not yet eating time. It's my natural source of vitamins and sweets. I also use it for my dessert recipes of which I shared some in Steemit.

8. What do you like most about your country?

Every countries has its own unique beauty and signature dishes. Spain is rich in historical sites which some of them I wish I could experience before we go back to my home country. When we arrived here in Spain 2 years ago, I found out that we are located in the province of Valencia- the origin of "Paella" which is Spain's national dish.

Meanwhile, my home country the Philippines has also a lot of beautiful places to see and traditional dishes to try. It is home to one of the UNESCO world heritage sites and Seven Wonders Of Nature- The Puerto Prinsesa Underground RIver. Surrounded by powedery white sand beaches, it is the world's longest underground river next to Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula.

One of my country's signature dishes that I also shared the recipe in Steemit are "bistek", "kinilaw" and "lechon".Bistek is a fiipino style of beef steak. kinilaw is a filipino style of civeche.

The lechon or roast whole pig is another traditional dish in my home country which is originated from Spain. I was so happy to find this at Restaurante Botin menu when we visited Madrid. Restaurante Botin is the "world's oldest restaurant" according to Guiness World Record.

9. For you, what is the best publication in Steemit that you have done?

It's probably my posts that was rewarded by one of the respected Steemit curators such as @curie @ausbitbank , to @princessmewmew of @adsactly community and my posts that was featured in my other community groups such as the @steemph, @steemkitchen and @curator.

Through those rewards and appreciation, it inspires me to do more quality contents.
