Uber hat laut Google eine Marktkapitalisierung von 50 Milliarden Dollar, Airbnb hat eine Marktkapitalisierung von 35 Milliarden Dollar vor der öffentlichen Bewertung. Das macht sie beide kleiner als Bitcoins 130 Milliarden Dollar Marktkapitalisierung – sogar zusammengerechnet.
Außerdem hat sich BTC seit seiner Einführung sehr gut entwickelt – astronomisch gesehen sogar sehr gut. Saifedean Ammous, Wirtschaftsprofessor und Autor des Industrie-Standards „The Bitcoin Standard“, erinnerte kürzlich daran, dass jemand am 11. Oktober 2009 5.050 Bitcoins für 5,02 $ in der „ersten Markttransaktion für BTC“ gekauft hat. Heute ist die gleiche Summe an Coins etwa 42 Millionen Dollar wert.
Nein, es ist kein Hinweis auf die mystische Kreatur mit dem langen Horn, sondern ein Wort, das die flüchtige Anzahl von Start-ups beschreibt, die eine US-Bewertung von mehr als 1 Milliarde Dollar erhalten haben.
Wie der Professor anmerkt, bedeutet das: Bitcoin ist seit seinem ersten Verkauf rund 838.078.685% gestiegen.
