Steemlight needs your help; as you know Steemlight is the zine that shines a light on undervalued users of the Steemit community.

Each issue takes hours or sometimes days to collate. This is because I want to highlight creators who consistently produce great content.

The reason for this is consistency is much more likely to be rewarded by being followed by a curation trail, and/or a whale looking for great content to vote up.

However of late, I have been finding it harder and harder to find those great users who churn out one entertaining post after another.

For instance I have just spent over two hours trying to collate issue 5.0 and have found exactly zero Steemians who need to be highlighted.

Don't get me wrong; I have seen and read many entertaining posts in that time. However when I check out the channels, there just isn't that consistent level that needs to be present.

So I figured what better way to find these amazing Steemians that I know are out there, than running a little competition.

I'll get to the competition details in a second, first of all I just wanted to explain what the benefits of appearing in the Steemlight are.

Why Steemlight?

Established: First of all Steemlight (formerly known as Spotlight) has been on Steemit from almost the very beginning. Started by @donkeypong it has garnered interest from whales and minnows alike.

Therefore the kind of potential exposure for a new Steemian is invaluable.

Whale Support: Steemlight is followed by a number of whales who are constantly looking for new Steemians to support. The reason for this is they want to encourage quality users, whilst maximising their rewards. So whale votes are not only possible when appearing in Steemlight, they are pretty likely.

Curation Trails: There are currently a number of curation trails on Steemit. Each of them have different rules for who they follow, promote and vote up. A fair number of these trails use tools such as Steemlight to save themselves time. Greatly increasing your chance of being followed by one of them.

Exposure: Regardless of whether you get a whale or curation trail vote or following. Appearing in Steemlight gives great exposure, not just to my 2500+ followers, but also via the various resteems. This makes it an excellent platform to get your message out there!

Celebrity: The original meaning of celebrity is quite literally; one who should be celebrated. Ultimately it is nice to be talked about, especially by a popular high-rep account. Many of the Steemians I have highlighted in Spotlight and Steemlight, have gone on to earn far more than I do, and become popular high-rep accounts in their own right.

Link Backs: This area is often underestimated on Steemit. However the fact remains that Google crawlers use back links to rate the importance and relevance of web pages. Therefore the more people linking to you the more people that can stumble across your content.

Competition Rules

It's very simple, you can nominate someone else to appear in the Steemlight, or you can put yourself forward.

To enter someone into the reckoning, post one or more (maximum 5) posts into the Steemlight chat channel.

All entries must be posted in the Steemlight channel Any entries in the comment section of this article will be ineligible.

The person who submits the best posts; as judged by me, will win 20 SBD plus half the SBD payout for this article.

Competition closes 12 hours before the payout on this post.

Competition Fund

I want to take this opportunity to thank @lewisjfclarke for providing 5 SBD towards this fund. He sent me a lovely message which I've printed below, along with 5 SBD. I felt it was only right and fair to put this towards the competition fund.

Please take some time to visit @lewisjfclarke's page, as he is an amazing writer, with a great sense of humour, and brilliant subject matter.

I wanted to send you some SBD as a way of saying thank you for your amazing review about my blog on the Steemlight Issue 1.0. It has led to a huge increase in revenue and followers for me, and I just wanted to do something as a way of showing my appreciation for the kind words you had to say about my writing

@cryptogee this is a great idea and i will resteem this for all my contact to have a look and benefit from this great and awesome idea.

#steemit is a community of help with selfless personality all over.

Sounds like a well organised and great idea. I'll have a look at the channel. Thanks for sharing.

A beautiful initiative.

Good work, motivating the minnows with good content , i hope to participate too,, but the 5 entries you make , should you make them once , or at different times, so long as its before the closing time?

How old must the link be?

It doesn't matter, because ultimately you are highlighting the author, so you might want to submit your fave post from them. HOwever they must consistently create worthy content for me to consider them.

Thanks!

Should they go on the "post promotion" page ?

No, as I mentioned in the article several times; the Steemlight chat room, which can be found at https://steemit.chat/channel/steemlight

ty, i was confused again... as so often occurs (-:

always nice to see people trying to put other people in a spotlight , not really sure what type of content you are looking for but i'll try to submit some people that i think deserve some attention. voted and resteemd .

Any type of content is eligible? Even fiction or poetry?

Yes, as long as the poster is consistent, so if they post 20 memes and one story no. However if they mainly post fiction; yes :-)

A great start! Loved the content
